I know, I know, I'm coming way late in this discussion and I got the big bad red warning about how this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days, but I felt it was better to continue what was started instead of starting a new topic, thus creating clutter.
So, here I go.
I'm liking very much the way the main page randomizes three reviews and at the same time I was checking the duos game forum so these got me thinking (I'm looking at you, Eric): Is there a feasible way to cross reference film reviews in the forum or is this a programming nightmare, I don't know what the hell I am talking about and I should be stoned to death?
This is what my wandering mind think it's cool:
I am reviewing X movie and as a reference. I mention another movie because it fits into the context or because I want to draw certain comparison or whatever your mind wants.... and it turns out we have an existing review or analysis of that particular movie here on the site.
So, I type the title of the movie, let's say
Contact.
However, it would appear as clickable option, hyperlinking to the proper review:
Contact. (Don't fear, click on that).
Of course, I can just do what I did up there simply by hyperlinking the title to the first movie analysis we did here. But this is not particularly convenient and I think there could be an easier way.
I'm thinking of setting up a database of all available reviews we have at the site. Then, up there, along with the smileys and other functions, we could set a button reading "Link to Movie Review", a small database app will open and from there, you can pick, alphabetically, the proper review which you want to link to your own review, comment, comparison, whatever.
This can also be set, for example in the text games section we have. Take for example, the Duos game. I mention this actor and that actor together, perhaps that sparks your interest. Maybe we have a review available for it. Wouldn't it be cool to cross reference the movie you're mentioning with an existing review here at the site?
Again, if this seems like madness to do forget that I say anything, but if there's a way, it may be way cool.
If you need someone to search & type all movie titles for which there's an existing review into an Excel sheet in order to build a database of it, I volunteer (it won't be rapid fire quick but it will be done).
Shoot your thoughts here!
