The end is nigh!
« on: April 22, 2008, 07:54:12 PM »
I am well within the eight season of SG-1.

I am most likely through with it by the end of next week.

Any wishes for the next one?

(Please keep in mind that I am posting on more than one forum and thus the vote results might not determine the next marathon)

That was last year! And I've only watched it once.

And have you seen SMG recently? We call this a "Strich in der Landschaft" (literally "line/streak in the landscape", i.e. very thin person). Don't know if I even wanted "to do" her, I could hurt myself on her bones!

You say "thin", I say "light and flexible"...

I have not yet decided what the next marathon will be, but it will be more of a nordic walking than a marathon. I've decided to reduce the watching of DVDs on working days in favour of reducing my "unread books stack".

..."unread books stack".

I'm curious about these.

..."unread books stack".

I'm curious about these.

I am reading mostly "light literature". Currently I am reading "Buffy - The Watcher's Guide" (Vol. 1-3). Then I will read  "Slayer Slang" (also Buffy).

After that I will continue with the fourth book in a series of four: Jasper Fforde, "Something Rotten" (the first book was "The Eyre Affair"). Who liked the "Hitchhiker's Guide" should try out these.

Then I have several novels to the TV shows "Battlestar Galactica" (new) and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".

:hmmmm: Interesting.

From the back cover of "The Eyre Affair":

Quote
There is another 1985, where London's criminal gangs have moved into the lucrative literary market, and Thursday Next is on the trail of the new crime wave's Mr Big.

Acheron Hades has been kidnapping characters from works of fiction and holding them to ransom. Jane Eyre is gone. Missing.

Thursday sets out to find a way into the book to repair the damage. But solving crimes against literature isn't easy when you also have to find time to halt the Crimean War, persuade the man you love to marry you, and figure out who really wrote Shakespeare's plays.

Perhaps today just isn't going to be Thursday's day. Join her on a truly breathtaking adventure, and find out for yourself. Fiction will never be the same again...

The advantage is that "The Eyre Affair" can stand on its own, you don't have to continue reading. But if you want to, then there is "Lost in a Good Book", "The Well of Lost Plots" and "Something Rotten".

You would love our local second hand stores in Buffalo. We have dozens of them (including book stores) which specialize in every genre you can imagine. I love roaming these stores and buying books and other "stuff". The best part is hardcover books are $1 and paperbacks are 3/$1. Of course that's why I have no more room in my house!

I will finished my DS9 marathon within the next two weeks.

As you might have noticed it took me longer than previous marathons (I started on Sep 20th, 2008) to finish this one. This was due to the fact that I didn't want to watch the same show every weekend. I wanted to watch other stuff like House.

So I decided not to do a single series marathon again. When I start my next marathon I will make it a mix of shows so that I can watch the show for which I am in the mood for.

I only just noticed the hilarious misspelling of this topic! ;)

I find your marathons interesting and I hope you'll keep the "one series: one topic" set-up regardless of how often you contribute to them because it makes them very readable.
