RoboCop (2014)
« on: September 06, 2013, 06:32:53 AM »
I was really excited for this.

Until I saw the trailer just now.

 :yucky:

Well, at least this might trigger the studio to release the original again, with better transfer and extras.

Don't be so sure... no special edition of Fright Night was released after the remake (and Sony had a good HD master ready but they gave it to Twillight Time).

Like you I'll pass on this, I prefer to watch Robocop 3 again than that...

Huh.  I guess I didn't realize they were this far with this one.  I think I kind of remember hearing they were going to do a new one.

Something just looks....well.  I don't know.  Wrong I guess.

Michael Keaton and Gary Oldman in it?  Hmm again.

They are probably the only reasons to watch that...

That trailer is so wrong, this isn't Robocop it's a PG-13 movies about a robot... even the satire of the original is all gone.

Who knows... it might be a decent movie if you ignore it being a RoboCop remake (or you haven't seen the original before.)

.... or it might not.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

It looks like, as with most sci-fi remakes, that it will rely heavily on cgi and action and little on what we can give the character.  At least from the short trailer.  Probably wont see it at first release.  Let it get to a cheaper theater :)
Thank you
David

It has been a long time since I last saw the original, so I don't remember everything.  Like I said, I can't place what, but something seemed wrong or off or something when I watched the trailer.

It looks generic, that's what's wrong.

In itself maybe not really a bad trailer, but this is a remake of RoboCop, so we clearly expect more. The original is a lot to live up to.

That very well could be it.  I just couldn't place what it was.
