Topic: Ripper Street (BBC 2012-)

Anyone else watching Ripper Street on BBC  America?

It is very good drama, set in Whitechappel in the late 1800's,  and I wonder if others here are watching.  What are your thoughts.  The sets, filming and drama is very similar to the BBC America show that also started last year, Copper though it is set in Boston around the same time.

It is on my DVR...been working too much to have time to watch it yet though.  My DVR is getting full.

I have now watched all but the newest episode of Ripper Street - that aired last night.  It is on my DVR. 

Very good show.  A bit disturbing at times, but very well done and interesting.  I'm glad I set my DVR for it and let it on there until I could watch it.  I almost didn't start to record it..and then after a few weeks, I almost stopped recording the new shows. 

I still need to watch Copper.

It is interesting you mentioned Copper.  A friend of mine turned me onto Ripper Street a couple of weeks ago (have seen them all except the last one) and I must say I enjoy it.  But it has a lot of the same *flavor* that "Copper" has.  Not saying one is better than the other just that the new one is very similar.

And still not sure why it is called "Ripper Street" other than it is in Whitechapel and shortly after the infamous Jack the Ripper murders.

But it will be interesting where the season takes it.

I think the connection to Jack the Ripper..just months after his crimes and in the same general location, is why it is called Ripper Street.  The one main cop guy...Reid...he worked on the Ripper case and Abberline - not sure I spelled that right - was in the first episode.  When everyone except Reid was ready to jump to the conclusion that Jack had murdered again.
