My Name Is Earl (2005-2009)

Thoughts on the show? I'd only seen the very occasional episode in passing but just watched the first disc of season 1 (episodes 1-7) and enjoying it more than I expected. It's not laugh out loud funny, but it has had some great moments and I really like the cast. Also loving the guest stars so far: Giovanni Ribisi, Johnny Galecki, Dax Shepherd and Chloe Moritz so far anyway... Throughout all four seasons it appears it had a huge list of notable guest stars:

I really liked this show. Especially in the beginning.
You can find an old review of mine of season 2 here.
Here are two additional review links.

Well, blasted through the rest of the episodes pretty quick. Highlight for me was definately Jon Favreau as the fast food boss closely followed by Juliette Lewis as Earl's ex who became a bounty hunter. I'll probably order the second season later today.

I think you said it best when you said "... It's not laugh out loud funny, but it has had some great moments ... ".  It could wear at times and I think it ws time for it to end after 5 years .. but is was at times a very good show.
Thank you

I enjoy the show a lot and have all four seasons.  And I guess I agree.  It's a really fun show, they had good guest stars and even had some fairly creative episodes.  Not my favorite comedy by a long shot, but it's really not all that bad either.

I only watched a couple episodes that I caught on TV.... but going by those I wasn't very impressed with it.

Like many shows, I think it was one that took time to get with the characters.  I really love the growth of Darnell "Crabman" Turner .. what a fun character.
Thank you

Season 2 arrived today (going to start watching it in a minute) so based on peoples general thoughts here and elsewhere I'm expecting to enjoy it after liking season 1. I just hope it doesn't become too samey.

I've just started rewatching this but only got through the first 8-9.  I have to go back and watch more "Psych".

I think that Season 2 and very beginning of season 3 was the best for "My Name is Earl".  Characters working good, actors seem to have their characters down and direction is consistent.  Wasn't until middle/end of 3 that they started getting really odd .. at least for me.  Yeah 2 is a great season.
Thank you
David
