The OMG What Was I Thinking Weekend Movie Marathon

OK... Over the years a lot of friends have given me a lot of DVDs... and I have always said that I will watch what is sent me... at least once! But then my uhmmm... "Friends" started to find it funny to send me musicals... something I really do not like... and they know it! Which of course is why they find it funny! But a promise is a promise... and I have been putting many of these off for long enough... so to entertain some of my "friends" I decided to watch some musicals this weekend. I am sure many of you will get some laughs from my suffering.  :tease:

South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut  (This is a musical?)
Yes it is and more than many of the movies you have listed...

Even if Trick or Treat is about a rock musician coming back to life this is not really a musical (in the sense that nobody will start singing for no reasons) and I'm positive you'll like it even with the poor quality of the material available on dvd.

Skip Hustle & Flow, even me who like music can't stand that hiphop crap for more than 30 seconds...

I wouldn't class any of these as musicals. Yes, they have some music in them but far from being a musical. I think these would be a great way to 'ease' into the marathon. Ray and The Doors the best of them.

Nice marathon title
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

Yes, a great one at that! I would like it if you review it. It is a relatively short movie.

From your other unwatched, I think you should see "Mary Poppins" (which you might enjoy) and "Moulin Rouge!" (if you want to torture yourself because this has a lot of singing).

There are a lot of titles which I never even heard of.

Fully agree.
I'd start with "American Dreamz" though.
A brilliant mock-up on all these casting shows. Easy to watch and quite amusing.

My Thoughts:
Since my brother is watching many of these with me this weekend I let him pick the first movie for us to watch. This was his pick. It is part of the Mills Creek boxset Combat Pack: 20 Movie Pack. Going into it I thought at least he picked one I never seen before. And then I noticed that Shemp Howard (The Three Stooges) is in it. Giving me some hope for some funny scenes. And that it did have... I caught myself laughing out loud on more then one occasion. It definitely had more music then what I would have liked. But knowing it has such a short running time helped me get through the music scenes without as much trouble. Plus the non-music scenes made for an enjoyable film. For being part of a Mills Creek set... it has surprisingly good quality... no complaints at all quality-wise. Over-all I enjoyed this one... I am surprised to say I can see myself watching this one again.

My Thoughts:
My brother and I just finished watching this one. I found it to be a pretty cute... and fun film. Though it is a bit overly heavy on the music. But I shouldn't be surprised what with the film being a little on the long side. For me the saving grace of this film had to be Dick Van Dyke... but I have been a fan of his for many years now. I can see how this film has become such a classic over the years... even if it won't be that special to me personally. Don't get me wrong... I did enjoy it and can see myself watching it again... but it isn't something I could watch very often. Through-out the beginning of the movie I was trying to figure out just what Mary Poppins is... a good witch?... a fairy god mother?... guardian angel?... what? Then I finally came to the conclusion that this movie took place in a world where magic is a very real thing. Or did I somehow miss some big reveal? Over-all I would say this is a fun classic musical that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.
