I received the first season of this from Kathy recently (cheers!) and have to say, it's incredibly cheesy and quite fun. I've only watched the first four episodes so far in the wee hours, but enjoying it so far. Looks like additional seasons are also quite cheap from Mill Creek. This Mill Creek season 1 set isn't of great quality, but certainly watchable. I wonder if this sort of thing really does happen?

I loved this series... watched it through my teen years... and bought all the original releases as they were released. I even have the set of the spin-off series called Booker. It is off a character you haven't seen yet.

Just finished up disc 1 (this is a 2 disc set compared to Anchor Bay's 4) which has episodes 1-7 and although it's not brilliant, it is fun enough for me. Just ordered season 2.

Personally, I liked the black Captain (Fuller IIRC) better than the hippie one.

I have only had him for one episode so far, episode 1.7* - I definately prefer his mannerisms and think his character will have a bit more flexibility for the way he can handle stories...

The funeral for the first captain (Jenko, played by Frederic Forrest) was right at the beginning because he got killed by a drink driver. According to google searching he was replaced because of 'viewer input'.
btw, I found it funny that Depp didn't want to do TV work and only signed for 6 years because of the pay and he didn't expect it to last more than one season.

My season 2 set finally arrived after being out of stock for 4 weeks. Into the TV to watch pile it goes.
