I'm getting old...
« on: March 11, 2012, 07:23:00 PM »
I know it's nothing compared to some of you guys but it feels that way.

Today I found my Abiturzeugnis (high school diploma). It was dated May 27th 1997 - 15 years ago.

I moved away from Berlin in April 2002 - 10 years ago.

I've been working for my company for 10.5 years. Since March 2005 here in Karlsruhe - 7 years ago.

And I'm only 34!

Always a question of perspective! I'm 51 - young for somebody who is 99 and old for somebody who is 34!

You young whippersnappers are always complaining...

I graduated 1975 - 37 years ago

I moved into my first apartment in 1976.

Worked misc. jobs while I had fun until I was in my 30s and decided I'd better grow up and get a "real" job.

I've been a nurse for close to 25 years!

If this is you... ...I guess that makes me  :rip:

Two of my favorite lines from some elderly patients:

"Getting old isn't for cowards"

"The only thing golden about my golden years is my urine"

Congrats!
Only 33 more years to go until retirement castle. ... If they don't prolong life-working-time any further, that is.

I'm 35 and I don't wanna grow up  ("I"m a Toys R Us kid." :P)

I've always viewed age from the perspective of my parents' ages. Only in the past two or three years have I finally started considered my father to be "old" because of new unavoidable pains and bad eyesight. So, I'm not going to be old until I am around that age, and I still have half of a century to go!
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

I always get a chuckle when my father forgets his age and refers to some people as the "old ones". He is almost 78, so in the range I consider old  So, it's all relative. Like I would have thought 44 is old in my young days, now I obviously say "I am as old as I feel :P".

I look like 55.
I am 44.
I feel like 33.
[...] like 23. (This thing worked better ten years ago, now this gap has opened up. :hysterical:)
I behave like 13.

I  graduated high school in 1969!

I got out of the Navy after 6 years of service in 1977.

Worked in the IT industry for another 33 years...

and retired 2 years ago to play golf and do whatever the hell I want to!

I turned 61 one week ago today!

That should make you ALL feel better!

Ok, I'll go one better than Hal.
I'm 65 and I'm retiring at the end of this month after working 30 years as a developer for the same company. :goodbye:

Some of my favorite memories are of a woman I used to help out. I loved her stories and wish I would have written them all down.

She was born in 1899 and I used to tease her that if she lived until the year 2000 she would have lived in 3 centuries. I told her I was going to call the Buffalo News and make her a celebrity. Oh did she hate that - she couldn't stand the thought of people thinking she was "old"!
