50 Years James Bond Blu-Ray box announced
« on: February 22, 2012, 12:35:27 AM »

It will contain all 22 official James Bond Movies (not the original "Casino Royale" and not "Never Say Never Again", which were not produced by EON) on Blu-Ray.

Interesting since the prices are reasonably low at least in the UK for £ 90,- (~ € 107,-). The German box will be € 180,-, so guess where I ordered my copy.

Release Date: 01/10/2012

The US price is equally high, at Amazon at least. I wonder if the UK price is mislabeled...? :hmmmm: Amazon UK offers is for £130.

Way too costly for me at 199.00$ here (more or less 230$ with taxes) for something who start being less good when Roger Moore stop being James Bond...

 I lost did the same. Obviously it's a matte of taste and in fact I still quite like the first few of Moore's run. It just got more and more silly with the lowest point supposedly being Moonraker (which I have never seen).

But then many people also feel that Dalton's films are quite alright and even some of Brosnan's... I only saw Dalton's first and then only picked up watching again with Casino Royale...

and even some of Brosnan's

I absolutely love Goldeneye, bit other than that Brosnan was poor. Actually, it wasn't Brosnan who was poor, he was actually a great Bond IMO, but the storylines and direction of his movies made them poor.

I liked Moore as well. He was probably the most honest Bond. The films are inherently ridiculous and are better when they don't take themselves too seriously. I do think Dalton was a missed opportunity. Moore had been Bond for two films too many, but was still expected to do Living Daylights. So Dalton was saddled with a script that didn't suit him. Much better in Licence to Kill, but the momentum had passed.

I don't like Goldeneye much because they screwed up the music. I prefer Tomorrow Never Dies, partly because David Arnold came on board and made an awesome theme. The films just got sillier though.

I liked Brosnan as Bond.  Some of the movies did get a bit too silly...but they were entertaining overall.

I don't really like that with the newest ones, especially Quantum of Solace, they seem to be trying to be more like the Bourne movies instead of Bond..at least with the way some of the scenes are filmed.  I loath all that jerky hand held camera crap.  I know in one of the scenes in Quantum of Solace I couldn't tell who was who during the fight, and the other guy didn't even sort of resemble Daniel Craig.  Everything was just too jerky to make out anything.

Even though this is Blu-Ray, if I'm going to double dip I want the box set to be complete. If it's not I'd rather own all the individual separately.

ah but the original Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again are not real Bond films. You'll never see them in a boxset because they don't belong there. Never Say Never Again is particularly awful anyway.
