[John] du Pont built a wrestling training facility called Team Foxcatcher on his 800-acre Pennsylvania estate, where in 1996, he shot and killed Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler David Schultz. Schultz was a longtime friend of du Pont who had repeatedly tried to help him. Police never established a motive for the crime, which was witnessed by Schultz’s wife and du Pont’s head of security. After the shooting, the multi-millionaire locked himself in his mansion for two days while he negotiated with police on the telephone. Authorities turned off his power and were able to capture him when he went outside to fix his heater.

Due to be directed by Moneyball/Capote director Bennett Miller. Steve Carrell has already signed on as du Pont and Channing Tatum is rumoured to be in talks for the role of Schultz.

I know nothing about this story, but sounds a serious one and Carrell might be miscast?

Carell has some skills in serious. Little Miss Sunshine wasn't straightforward and Dirty Crazy Love has its moments.

Carrell had at least a few more serious scenes in Dan in Real Life too I think. 
Just because actors are good at comedy doesn't mean they can't also do more serious stuff.  Robin Williams is hilarious, but he's also been really good in some serious roles too.

True, but Carrell was rubbish in Dan in Real Life and was held up by everybody else in Little Miss Sunshine. He's not that good at comedies either tbh.

Robin Williams on the other hand is better as a serious actor than a comedy actor IMO. One Hour Photo says it all.
