Topic: Another Proud Parent Moment

Tonight I have a school function to go to as Brittany was asked to join the National Honor Society.

The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS).

Tonight I get to watch her join the group at their welcoming ceremony. Brittany has worked so hard in school... but at the same time making it look so easy. Never complaining... just doing what she had to do to excel. So needless to say... I am one proud father. I am hoping this will open some doors for her college education.... with chances at even more scholarships and awards.

These types of honors are rare and should be celebrated. They also can lead to scholarships and other benefits once Brit goes to college.

And she is definitely going to need that help too! Times are so tight... don't know how else we can do it! But there is a lot of help out there for those that need and deserve it. Especially when they work as hard as Brittany has.

Continue like that and you will be able access to some high grade school later (if I know something it's that a big difference exist in the US between the school).

Even if it isn't always fun hard works always pay later. My father did tell me that often when I was a teenager, but for me school was easy and I never had to work hard... believe me when I reached the university it was tough since I wasn't used to work and study to get good grades

Of course. Though I will most likely just show her the thread when she gets home.

I tend to think the school work is really easy for her as well. I mean she is doing all this and every single class she is taking now is an advanced placement class. And she still getting straight A's.

It is a good thing she never needs to ask me for help with her school work... I look at what she is doing and have to ask for the English version! I don't understand a single thing she is doing!  But she obviously understands every bit of it.

We are now back. I am so proud of her... I actually had to fight back tears when they called her name and talked a little about her.  She then went and lit her candle, got her membership card... and then stood in front of the stage waiting for all the other kids to do the same (about 23 in all). Then one of the senior member of the Honor Society lead them in an oath.

I am so upset... turned out that the batteries in my camera was dead... and it was too late to get any. So I wasn't able to get any pictures.

After the ceremony they had cake and soda and other snacks in the cafeteria for everyone to set together and talk a bit. Then we came home.

Thanks everyone... Brittany has seen most of the above... and appreciates it. She was too busy to come online last night. And is leaving to spend the weekend with her grandmother when she gets out of school. So she won't be back to see the rest and be able to reply till either Sunday evening or Monday after school.
