I tried to resist, but as you know, "Resistance is Futile" against Borg Skyrim. So I bought this: http://www.directsong.com/mobile/productdetails.php?productid=2240
Well, that's what I meant, I was just counting one CD short :slap head: Hope you'll like it!

Thanks Jimmy, I knew how to get video, but wouldn't have been sure about MP3. But in this case the singer actually provides the MP3 herself. :D

25hours in and hardly scratched the surface of that map. This is insane!

Tell me about it! I was (yes past tense, more on that in a bit) about 35 hours in, and you could still see the path I took back from Markath on the map. All the locations I had visited were pretty much on a straight line between Whiterun and Markarth. That left a hell of a lot to cover yet!

Alas, it is not to be. I made a mistake, wanting to uninstall the latest patch which caused me more headaches than good .. I ended up deleting all my savegames ..  :voodoo: It's my own damn fault for not really looking at what I was doing .. but it's so frustrating. I'm not even sure I want to start again yet.

Oh what? That's just awful! 35 hours worth? Good grief. Really sorry to hear that. I almost lost my Batman saved games a couple of weeks ago because Microsoft Games For Windows Live are idiots, but managed to rescue them. And I had at least completed the game.

What irks me is that it's entirely my own fault. I cleaned the cache (to remove the patch), then I had to remove the installed game (because there's a bug in previous version with textures, that is fine if run from DVD).. instead of going into the games' "folder" and delete only the game itself, I didn't pay too much attention and deleted the whole Skyrim "folder" .. :suicide:

The worst is I had thought just a few days ago that I should probably do a backup of the hard drive .. just in case .. of course I procrastinated and wanted to play more Skyrim instead .. :slaphead:

So I thought I would play some Dragon Age 2 or Mass Effect before starting again at Skyrim ... it lasted about 10 minutes, and Skyrim was back in. From the beginning. But this time, I'm playing until I kill the first dragon, then I'm going straight for the Guilds I hadn't done yet.

That's actually the beauty of it. I can just go to the places I had not visited yet in the previous game, and it'll be just like nothing happened .. until I have to redo what was already done.

Oh my God! I had missed that post entirely. That is so scary, loosing a save game so far in. I mean, before you decided to restart yourself, but having it taken await at that point is a horrifying feeling for a few minutes; until realization settles in that nothing can be done and you start again  I hesitated installing that patch, having read there was still trouble, but eventually decided to just let it install *wood is being knocked on*.

I had this happen when I lost two months worth of save data (that was how old my oldest save was) when my PS3 broke down. Luckily within those two months I had completed two or three games, so the data for those was lost, but not at a big loss. I think only one game needed substantial at the time: Fallout 3.

Any of you fellow Skyrim players dabbled in Illusion spells? It's awesome! Sneak to the door of a room full of ennemies.. cast Fury on the "boss" and watch as they tear each other apart! Waltz in, mop the remaining stragglers.

I love Skyrim! So many different playstyles! (and seeing as I was forced to start anew, this is important!  >:()

No, I am concentrating on Destruction. My mage is also getting quite good with the bow and not to forget sneaking. I may have a staff that will cause Fury, I will check and if I do, bring it along next time. So far, if I have a room "full" of enemies I will use the sneak approach. Sneak up, shoot an arrow, run off until the forget about me, then rinse and repeat. When I am down to a small enough of enemies I'll charge in with Lydia.

What is the level cap again? There is an achievement for reaching 50, but I remember you saying 70?

Ello Skyrim players.Does any1 kno if the latest update for skyrim (360) fixed the graphic issuses?apparently there was a problem with people playin the game installed on2 the HDD, the textures were not loading up properly. It was recommended to play the game off the disc until they fixed the prob (which I have been doin).I havent been at home for a week or so , so ive not be able to check yet.Its not really so much of a big problem, jus that I like to instal games nowdays (recently upgraded to my slim 250gb) and I want the full effect outta skyrim. Plus installin games saves the lens bein used all the time, ive had quite a few xboxs die on me due to the lens packin up and not readin discs anymore.lol last time I played I brought the house in whiterun , fully furnished it for me and lydia to live in, then later on we got jumped buy a bunch of guys sayin ive been stealin  ::) me never!!! but yer....she ended up diein in the battle, what a waste lol.

Lydia has saved my butt more often than I can count ;)

As for the texture problem, I can only say "it depends". I've read report of it being fixed by some people, others not. BUt the biggest problem is that it seems to have introduced other problems for some people. For me, dragons glitched (Alduin at the beginning of the game freezing and not attacking anyone, stuff like that), quests taking forever to popup during conversation, brawls not happening despite making the right conversation choices, etc.

So the latest patch is hit or miss. Try it. Just know that any savegame made with the latest patch will not work if you decide to remove it.

I played a bit more this weekend with my latest character - a Khajiit Assassin - and let me tell you, it is VERY satisfying to sneak up to the final boss of a dungeon undetected, and slit his throat with a puny steel dagger (15x backstab dagger damage perk is AWESOME - maybe a bit OP though).  :hysterical:

Typical play with an assassin (so far anyway):
Me: Hey Lydia, come with me!
Lydia: I am sworn to carry your burden..

Roam the country side, hunting deer (Fury + Bow on a Deer equal easy hunting). Oh A wild Dungeon appears! Let's go explore.

Me: Lydia, stay here at the entrance. Make sure nobody escapes!

Me proceed to clear out dungeon

Me: Alright Lydia, let's go.
Lydia: But I didn't get to kill anybody!
Me: [Lie] There was no one here. Sorry. Here's all the loot I picked up.
Lydia: I am sworn to carry your burden..

The way she says "I am sworn...." is so great (not). Almost makes me want to carry everything myself...

I am still working towards the skill with dagger kill bonus, how'd you getting so quick...? Well, you are more focused about what you choose, I know it's possible.. :-[ so far only enjoying the 3x for the bow, which is enough for humans but not bosses of course. Hmmmm, once you sneak up on them, do you get a special button for tht attack or is it the regular one? I know some other games have special buttons for stealth kills...

Lydia is going into her "resting" position more and more often, but o far she idn't get killed yet.

Well, starting as a Khajiit gave me a starting +10 Sneak bonus, so that helped. And then just sneak ALL THE TIME. On my first run to Whiterun, I saw a guy just walking on the road. I got into sneak and followed him all the way to Whiterun. Made me gain a least 5 levels in Sneak. ;)

And the special attack animations are sort of random. But you have a better chance of getting one if you do a power attack (hold attack button longer)

Oh, o.k., so you got a headstart...

Yes, I also sneak ALL the time; which is why I am at 60 already. Not only does it get Sneak up, which is obviosuly a plus, but I will also be alerted of potential enemies nearby before the music starts, at least if they see me sneaking, which is really helpful especially to avoid getting jumped without warning.

What is the level cap again? There is an achievement for reaching 50, but I remember you saying 70?

From the Wiki:
Quote
Game director Todd Howard stated that the game's "mathematical" level cap is 70;[4] however, the Prima Official Game Guide states the level cap is "around 80."

I doubt too many people would get to level 80. I mean, once you get to higher levels, starting to use a 2-hander at level 15, when you character level is around 50, would gimp any fight.

Or maybe not. Raise illusion enough and you can cast Calm, then go to work with your 2-handed weapon ;)

I again cleared a whole dungeon just sneak backstabbing everyone. Really satisfying. Especially when you backstab a guy not 20 feet from the boss, and nobody notices anything! hahaha I also cast Fury on a dog in a dungeon, thinking it would clear the dog out by having it be killed by the bandits .. well turns out the dog was stronger than the bandit! haha Had to cast Calm on the dog to not have it attack me! ;)

Killed the dragon at Shearpoint along with the Dragon Priest there. OH. MY. GOD. Took me probably around 15 minutes to get them both down. When you are a sneak assassin, and you can't get into sneak, it makes fights a whole lot of mess! I finally managed to settle in a pattern that allowed me to wittle dows the priest's health, while Lydia was taking care of the dragon. Took forever, but we triumphed! I ran out of potion and food .. makes the fights a whole lot more difficult and strategic than usual! ;)

Almost ran out of arrows too! No, that fight was much harder than I thought it'd be ..

I am not sure I followed what you said about the levels there. You mean, a level 80 guy who forgot to use 2-handed weapons is still at 15 skill-level, which makes that skill useless against high level enemies?

I really want o lean that sneaking think, but many guys hear me coming when I'm about 2feet away. Maybe I must try going commando  (I know there's a perk to reduce armor rattling).

I have had one or two longer battles, but not anywhere near 15min; maybe 5...?
