Absolutely you should play through Portal first! For one, it is a wonderful game that deserves your attention. Second, the puzzles in Portal 2 so far seem easy enough, but they still respect a veteran, with fun touches only someone who has played the first one will pick up on. And finally, the story simply follows on. It isn't a story based game, but it's still there.
O.k, convinced. It's a short game anyway, so it won't make for a long delay. But I might have been stuck, last time, so I may have to consult Google a little.

So, just finished :yahoo: Insanity is pretty rough in spots, and I daresay the final mission is not the toughest... Only a the end I realized that my Infiltrator clearly hadn't used the snipe rifles enough :slaphead:

Now all that's left to do is Arrival. (I think I will do the suicide play through later... Maybe in October to relearn gameplay mechanics...?)

I have Portal 2; the PS3 version which I can link to Steam as soon as PSN comes back online (has been off since Thursday).

What's up with that? I was really looking forward to playing some CoD this weekend and that went tits up.

Official information is, that it is an external "attack", while the error message when trying o log in simply refers to maintenance  It's been four days already, I hope it resolves soon (I mainly play single player games, so so far I am o.k. myself).

Well, looks like I posted about my infatuation with Dragon Age too fast ... I just got the urge to play Fable again today!

And boy, even just the intro puts you in the mood! Epic! The theme music alone ..

That is good music. I wonder though, just how many people watched all of this and how many pressed the Skip button no later than the 2min mark; three and a half minutes is pretty long...

I amvery glad to have followed Jon's advice. I played up to chamber 15 last night; the one where you first...

...and have had a lot of fun with it!

Last time I played this was February 2008. That was clearly at the time where I was still lacking the ability to properly coordinate the camera and movementns with the controller , which is why I miserably failed at the time. I am looking forward to finish this one tonight (I think) and then follow it up with Portal 2 right away.

I was speaking to a guy at work last night and he had heard that it will probably be down for this week too. :redcard:

I mainly play online, but I figured that seen as I couldn't I'd have a bash some CoD4:MW campaign action.
I'm about half way through, but if I've achieved any of the Trophies, I don't know as they're not active, without the online aspect, which is frustrating.

Well, I read about hopes being quite high for Tuesday... Guess we'll see.

If they have indeed been seriously hacked, then I guess fortifying the defenses before going back online is a good idea. After all, they hold many their customer's credit card information...

I suppose you may be missing a "2" in the title...? If not, let me tell you that CoD4:MW does not feature any trophies of any kind. Be it online offline or whatever

Otherwise, all single player trophies can be collected now and will sync later.

I understand though that there is actually a few games that are unplayable right now, because they use some sort of DRM which requires them to check back with the PSN :slaphead:

Wow, that second half of the game is way longer than I expected. Actually couldn't finish last night. getting stuck in the room right after the rocket luncher didn't help (eventually had to google the solution).

I am especially enjoying the ones where you need to propel yourself through the portals with enough momentum. Weeeeeeeeh (super funny when GlaDOS actually says that ).

I can feel I am really near the end now. I hope.

"Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out".

It's actually that I was thinking of, because I found a couple of levels in 2 which need you to remember rules like that. They don't explain it again.

I think you're going to love the Faith Plates! They spring you up very high.

When you have completed it, take a look at the videos for Portal 2 they used to promote it. They're hilarious and you'll appreciate them more...  ;D

I don't dispute that suring up the defences is a good thing. I just dislike this lack of news or explanation about it going down.

They have evryone's email address, they could've sent out a mass message informing people that there was an issue that was being looked into.

I wasn't aware that there were no trophies for MW1. So I get nothing for trying to find all of the laptops? That's pants.

Finished the first one and already 2 chapters into the second... Stephen Merchant's performance is brilliant! Loving the faith plates...

You mean after completing Portal or also Portal 2?

I have seen some of them, but that was before playing the first game (again). I shall revisit them, I think you might be right, that now the will be received totally different...

Of course I agree with you, it would be great to know more... Maybe I am so use to Invelos' style that the lack of clear information didn't strike me awkward

And I think the hopes or Tuesday were apparently off the target. From what it looks like your friend's estimate might even be overly optimistic...

MW1 was a very early title. Trophies only came into existence in summer 2008. Only very few games that and previously been released received a patch to add trophies. It ha only been mandatory for developers since January 2009!

So, sorry, no. Finding the notebooks might give you some in-game bonus, but no trophies...

Well, the vids were all promotional material, so watch 'em any time, but damn, they are funny!

Ahem. I just completed Portal 2.  AWESOME!  :yahoo: It's much longer than the first, the last section is fairly tough, though not as tough as the last level of the original, but the story is so well fleshed out. Goes in a couple of directions I wasn't expecting and is very, very satisfying. Also, one of the achievements involves finding a huge ship called the Borealis, which happens to be the vessel from one of the Half-Life 2 episodes. Plus, nearby, there is a poster on an office wall telling staff to watch out for the "orange jump suit" and a figure in said attire. Freeman fits the bill. I know there was a tiny ref to HL in Portal as well, but I really hope this means episode 3 is on the way.

Let me know when you're done and maybe we should try and set up one of the co-ops. I haven't seen the robots yet. Cracking new song at the end, btw; I take it you did listen to "Still Alive"?

EDIT: Anyone who has Portal 2, check out the Extras menu. It contains an "interactive trailer" for Super 8 and it's pretty well done. Then you get the trailer proper.

First a PSN/Qriocity Service Update. Apparently login information of PSN users has been stolen and there is also a possibility that credit card information was taken as well.

According the US Blog basic services may return in a week or less.

I didn't find the last section all that tough, actually. I needed three attempt there, figuring out what needed to be done (where to find the stuff...), but then it went pretty well. I have hopes now that I can actually finish Portal 2 :hysterical:

I almost started up Half-Life 2 when I finishged Portal! Another one on my pile-of-shame...

Once the Playstation Network is back up I would love to play some co-op. I think the stories don't actually overlap, so we wouldn't have to wait till I am done. I am going to be in Japan next week though, starting Saturday, but maybe next weekend? I heard that having a headset is pretty much a requirement, as some puzzle are rather tough to set up. Heck, they give you a timer of some sorts so that you can time certain actions better  You mean you haven't seen the robots even in pictures...? Because, at least one of them is on the cover... But I guess you mean you haven't started up co-op at all yet and therefore haven't seen them in the game.

Yes, I listened to Still Alive; or better, read along with the text... Rather funny stuff in context and still a nice song by itself.
