DVD Player in Computer Room
« on: September 11, 2010, 08:00:44 PM »
I now have a DVD player hooked up in the computer room.  I've thought more than once before how it would be nice to have one in here with me when I'm working on reviews or doing other stuff online.  I finally decided to see if I could hook up the one that use to be in the living room before a Blu-ray player went in there and it works.  So now I have more options for what to have on when I'm using the computer.  I usually have something on even if I don't pay much attention to it..I cant stand total silence.

Since I have the DVD player in here, I got through the second season of Veronica Mars faster than I would if I just watched it when I wasn't using the computer.  :)

That's what two monitors are for.  :tease:

I don't know how you all do it.. When I watch a movie I always give it my full attention. I'm just completely unable to do anything else while watching a movie/TV show.

The movie has about 80% of my attention, I'm often just browsing through the internet. And when I write postings like this that require all of my attention then I pause. And when I notice that I actually missed something then I rewind. Advantage of watching alone.

I don't have room for two monitors.  lol

I've always been able to read and keep track of what was going on on tv.  Though I have rewinded at times too when I've missed something.

No. I don't get it. I usually watch alone and I wouldn't think of trying to do something else.

I can rarely "just" watch a movie/series. It feels like running in eco mode.

I'm usually doing something while watching movies at home.  Writing notes...straightening up a little..crocheting..something.

For me if I seen the movie before I can do the net and the movie both. But if I never seen the movie before then all my attention is given to the movie.

Congratulations Marie, I can definitelyt see how it could help with reviews (or profiling, for that matter; maybe I do need a second monitor...).

I am mainly like Sebastien and Jon, I either watch a film or I surf the net. heck, on the other side, I can't even listen to music and surf the net at the same time, I might forget what I just read even quicker :bag:  If I get the feeling I want to do something on the side, it tells me that the movie is lacking...

If it's a repeat viewing, I might consider giving it less attention.

When I watch a DVD for the first time I do nothing but watch that movie - no distractions. I don't even like distractions for any special features. The only exception is commentaries.

Once I've watched a film and all the other special features I often put on the commentary. I always do something else during them - cleaning for example. I don't watch the film again - I just listen to the commentary.

With some movies I have just watched them and not done anything else.  With others I have no problem keeping track of the movie while doing other stuff.

Right now, I have disc 2 of the second season of Big Bang Theory going.  Sheldon just explained Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock.
