Got this on Blu ray recently, but it's still in my TBW pile!   :-[

Maybe I need to move it up on the priority list!

I triple-dipped this, it's so good!  :-[ I got an Aussie boxset, which was fine, then replaced it with the limited Region 3 Military Edition (still the coolest LE I have). Now I've upgraded to Blu...  :training:

Excellent mini-series by HBO films. I loved the first episode where they're training in Georgia.

I wasn't going to upgrade this to Blu-ray, but every year around Christmas Best Buy has 50% off HBO sets.  So I couldn't pass this up last year when it was $37! It was great on DVD and even better on Blu-ray! ;D

But now I feel the need to watch again (4-5 time I'm sure).

So this is more than Saving Private Ryan: The Series? Due to my dislike of Spielberg I only zapped into a couple of episodes when it aired on German TV, but didn't find much of interest there.

This is so much better than SPR. This is based upon true events and there's nary a cliché to be found...Why?...because Spielberg is just the producer. I've come to believe that this was his true calling.  ;)

That is one of the most absurd statements ever said in the world ever. :slaphead:

I feel like a Spielberg marathon! :voodoo: To be fair I've wanted to do for a while as it would make a nice follow up to the Hitchcock one.

Since his producer credits include such absurdities as Eagle Eye and Taken (TV series), I'm inclined to agree. :P

That's kinda harsh even to me who doesn't like Hitchcock very much, but at least respects him.

Well, it certainly wasn't intended to be harsh! :-[ Spielberg is kind of "heir apparent" to the sort of cinema Hitchcock produced. In fact I think that very phrase was used when Jaws was released (just compare it with The Birds). I see a lot of Hitch in Spielberg's compositions and themes, occasionally filtered through David Lean. Spielberg has the same basic approach as Hitch in simply considering the audience as part of the film.

I see him as a worthy successor to Hitchcock, but also a very individual talent. So there.  :tease:
