 :(
My town has only one Gold Class cinema in it, and it is sort of a tradition that whenever a new Pixar film, or other film that we are really looking forward to comes out that I will go and watch it with my Mum in Gold Class. So my Mum and I have been excited to go and view Toy Story 3 in Gold Class and we have been planning to do it a long time, it's sort of like a mother daughter bonding type thing when we see Gold Class films.

So I go into the cinema today to get in early and buy tickets for a showing next week only to find out that Toy Story 3 is no longer showing in Gold Class as of today due to the fact that the latest pile of Twilight rubbish is being released tomorrow. This is very disappointing, films are usually out for weeks and weeks in Gold Class. Toy Story has only been out 6 days and it is already being kicked out because apparently they need every single GC cinema to deal with those drooling packs of Twilight morons. And yes, I know I am being rude but we all know how much I hate Twilight anyway and this just topped it off.

This really ruined something that my Mum and I have been looking forward to for a very long time. I have never even heard of a film only being shown in Gold Class for just 6 days before, it's absolutely ridiculous.

That would upset me too. :(

What is Gold Class?  I don't think there is anything like that here.

Oh sorry, I thought Gold Class was an all over thing, or maybe it goes by different names.

Basically Gold Class are sort of like exclusive cinemas. They are smaller than normal ones and only seat about 12-20 people depending on the size. All of the seats in Gold Class are huge big recliner ones, and there are little tables and wine holder between them etc. Also you can order food to be brought into you whenever you want, really nice expensive food and drinks. They also provide blankets and pillows etc.

Here are some photos I found to try explain it better:
An example of the seats

They show your favorite movie series in a theatre like that ;)

Kind of too classy and chic for this genre of clientele no? They will destroy the sofa ripping them because of their anxiety

I'm jealous I would go see movies in a theatre like that ;D

Wow.....how nice.  I don't know of anything like that anywhere over here...even in Columbus.  Definitely nothing like that where I live.

I would love to see some movies in settings like that.  Now I'm ticked that you don't get to enjoy Toy Story 3 in that setting.  Stupid Twilight..like the teeny boppers need that kind of setting to drool over Edward and Jacob.

Exactly, Gold Class should be for people who actually enjoy cinema, instead it will be filled with screaming fangirls who won't even be able to hear the film over their noise. Gold Class is a great way to view a film though, I have seen many films there over the years, but usually only once or twice a year, as with the ticket, as well as the food and drink it can really be pricey. The only problem is that the seats are so comfy that sometimes people end up falling asleep  .

Also Jimmy, it IS too classy for them, but it's the Twilight fans who are willing to pay so much money to see something so crap over and over in Gold Class. So Unfortunatly Gold Class has been all but taken over until the film is finished.

I'm really in a bit of surprise here that this isn't in other countires, or where you are anyway. I had always had the idea it was just a general cinema thing.

You could always go take a couple of drink in the bar and had a great time listening to their fangirls crazyness

A cinema like this would be off limit for anyone under eighteen here since they serve alcool.
I'm sure that there is some theatre like that in the US, at least in New-York since I remember that some people were talking about them in another forum I'm a member of.

What the price for a ticket in a place like that? Certainly more than 20AUD

There could be something like that in big cities.  I just know it isn't here.

All ages can go to Gold Class cinema, but only the over 18's can drink, they sometimes put out special cocktails according to what films are showing, I dread to think what crap they will have invented for the Twilight fans.

I think the tickets alone are about 25-30 AUD. But along with extra food and drinks it can be quite pricey, it can clock up to $60-$100 or more. Which is good becuase that way you usually get people who actually respect films viewing them in Gold Class, but as you can tell from the Twilight thing that doesn't always work.

I would indeed be worried to fall asleep in such chairs seats. Also, depending what you mean by "food", I would rather "dine" separately before or after the film.

However, it looks like a classy way to watch a special film and I am sorry that you are robbed of the experience with Toy Story 3 because others want to watch bella moping while laying down. Twilight may well be a film where they fall asleep in droves

It is quite nice food in Gold Class Achim, not quite restaurant standard as a lot of the food is smaller and more snack like, but better than the usual fair.
I'm not sure if this will work but it's the link to the menu for Gold Class in my town.

Columbus is a fairly big city.  I live about an hour and a half east of Columbus.
Yes they have a hockey team..the Blue Jackets...  I guess that is supposed to be a bug of some sort.

I could see going to the Gold Class for Toy Story 3...but Eclipse?  Umm..no.  I don't need to pay extra to see Bella mope and Jacob get a huge attitude.

That look good and you make me hungry... I think I will take a walk to McDo right now (not as good, but it's the only "restaurant" open here at this hour ).

That does look really good.

I wouldn't do that often, but once in a while would be nice.
