I can't imagine being awake and not freaking out.  I know for a lot of eye surgery they do keep people awake.

Anyway, I'm glad it went well for you.  Do you have to keep the eye covered for now?

During the day I can have it uncovered.  But they gave me an eye shield (about the shape of eye eyeglass lens) they want me to tape over my eye while I'm sleeping so I don't accidentally rub it against something and scratch the eye or otherwise injure it.

Have you noticed an improvement in your vision yet?

I have definitely regained some sight through that eye but everything still looks like it has a foggy look to it.  I imagine the eye has to heal from the surgery before it will get as good as it's likely to get.

I'd have flashbacks of the examination scene from Fire in the Sky:o

Wow, my little surgery post seems to have become a game of "Can you top this?"
We didn't mean no harm :-[

I went back for a post-op visit today and the doctor there said everything looks great.  I next see my regular eye doctor (one of the two surgeons who worked on me) next Wednesday.
:thundergod: That sound great, Roger! I hope the second visit will confirm this first impression!

I bet the doctors and nurses were disappointed they couldn't knock you out for the surgery - they just love to play the "Day of the Triffids" gag on eye patients!

That's good that you are already noticing some improvement even before it is fully healed.

Glad to hear it went well! I don't know how you went that long being strapped down.  That would have driven me nuts.  I think I would have needed Valium or something along those lines to deal with that part.

My only problem now is I have to wear sunglasses everytime I go outside in the daytime.  The sunlight is blinding to me now.

Have you never seen the Day of the Triffids? How about 28 Days Later?

I always wear sunglasses outside in the daytime..even if it isn't that sunny out.  My eyes have always been sensitive to sunlight.
