There's gotta be something wrong.  My order was shipped in two parts, 1 on the 3rd and one on the 12th, I just received what they shipped on the 12th but still haven't got the first part.

Gonna have to contact them, it looks lik my dvd watching for the holidays just got screwed up. >:(

Mine was only a small order, but that happened to me. They informed me of three shipments and they arrived backwards. I assume customs were watching them first...

I sent them an email friday and got a response this morning.  Their web site clearly says that shipping normally takes 10 business days and may take up to 15 business days.

Now they're telling me that USPS destination mail may take up to 30 business days.  That takes me to January 14 and if we count the holidays then I have to wait until the 17 or 18 before contacting them again.

That is ridiculous, I'm really not happy this morning.

Yep, postman showed up at 10:00.  I had to pay 11.77$ on a declared value of 48.49$

I don't know what's going on but I've been hit by Canada Post with taxes on my last two DD orders.  Last week I received 7 or 8 DVD's and I had to pay 14$, today I got 6 and it cost me 10$.  It's unusual to have to pay on declared value below 100$.  That's a 13% increase in the price of my movies.

The limit is 20$ not 100$. That's the reason why I really don't order from Deep Discount (I find them slow as hell too) and Amazon.com (too bad since their price and shipping speed are good). Do like me and try to find a website who will agree to write the wrong price or declare it as a gift (the limit is 65$ I think).

Sorry for your bad luck.

I've ordered many times from DD for more than 20 bucks and I didn't pay taxes or customs.  My mom orders clothes from an american online store.  She usually didn't have to pay anything but the last time they charged her.  When she asked why, the postman told her that it depends on the supervisor on site.  Some will make them check every package, others will make them check every 12th or 15th package depending on how many they have to process that morning.

You are more lucky than me for this. Almost everytimes that my order are over the limit I've to pay, the worst case and the reason why I choose where I buy my dvd : an order from SWV for exactly 20 $US and the custom guy made me pay the taxes  :voodoo:

But, on a more happy note : all my order from Amazon.uk are over the limit and I never pay the taxes. Maybe it's depend of the place where the order arrive at the border  I know that all my package from the western US (SF, LA or Seatle) are always taxed and usually the package from the eastern US are not.

That's interesting, Jimmy. Obviously being in the UK I use Amazon.co.uk frequently for Region2, but I tend to avoid Amazon.com for importing because of customs. They're better these days, but a few years ago, I might order a single title and they would pack it in a huge box and Customs would tax it every single time. I preferred to use DVD Box Office because shipping out of Canada would never get stopped. Nowadays, since Play.com started in Jersey, a lot of suppliers seem to use Jersey as a customs-haven!
