The live action remake of Gantz is currently playing in cinemas here (I hope it has English subtitles; they don't always have). Seeing the trailer for that made me just as curious of its source material...

Source material? You are aware that the source is a manga?  :P
I wasn't aware that there is a live-action remake (and even has already a sequel). Now I am curious. I am reading the manga as they come out in English (currently vol. 15 out of 30 so far, the manga is still ongoing). I still haven't seen the anime. I have heard that the first season is great (which is based on the manga), and the second season is disappointing, which strays from the manga.

Well, yeah, there is that, too. I meant "closer" to the source :-X

Actually, I only found it when I followed a link Dave had given me when I asked him about Planzet... Saw the trailer and immediately enjoyed it. I think they did it similar to Death Note and also filmed both films back to back. Talking of Death Note, did you notice that "L" is in Gantz?

If the manga is still going on, it's strange it's already a Complete Series :headscratch: I read a review about the anime series somewhere and the author liked it. A few YouTube videos later I ordered it...

The anime is complete. The first season was based on the manga. I think the anime came fairly early and so they ran out of material for the second season already and invented their own stuff (Gecko Ending). Which didn't turn out so well as far as I have heard.

Are there additional extras? I am still searching for the one deleted scene which must exist somewhere. Like I said before I saw the international recut version in the cinema and I remember there being a scene, where Kajol's character gets teased by her son that she seems to be in love with SRK's character.

Nope no extras at all, a bare bones release  :(.

Awesome! I have a set with most of the movies (had to buy one seperately) and the set with the cartoon series.
