The Abyss
The Abyss is a 1989 science fiction film written and directed by James Cameron. It stars Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, and Michael Biehn. The original musical score was composed by Alan Silvestri. It was released on August 9, 1989 in North America.

Underwater scenes were filmed in the containment building of Cherokee Nuclear Power Plant, an unfinished nuclear power plant on Owensby Road, near Gaffney, South Carolina, in the United States. It took 7 million US gallons (26,000 m3) of water to fill the tank to a depth of 40 feet (12 m), making it the largest underwater filming set ever constructed. The depth and length of time spent underwater meant that the cast and crew sometimes had to go through decompression. Filming was also done at the largest underground lake in the world — a mine in Bonne Terre, Missouri, which was the background for several underwater shots.
(Dark Water) Honogurai mizu no soko kara
Yoshimi simply wanted a better life — for both herself and her daughter Ikuko. Unfortunately, such wishes may sometimes be hard to come by. The custody battle for her daughter has grown embittered and hurtful, her new job is less than desirable, and Ikuko's schoolwork as taken a turn for the worse. But, Yoshimi has something bigger to worry about. Something upstairs. Something cold and dank. Something that should have never been.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Something evil has taken possession of the small town of Santa Mira, California. Hysterical people accuse their loved ones of being emotionless imposters; of not being themselves. At first, Dr. Miles Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) tries to convince them they're wrong...but they're not. Plant-like extraterrestrials have invaded Earth, replicating the villagers in giant seed "pods" and taking possession of their souls while they sleep. Soon the entire town is overwhelmed by the inhuman horror, but it won't stop there. In a terrifying race for his life, Dr. Bennell escapes to warn the world of the deadly invasion of the pod people!

Remade in both 1978 and 1997, this chilling combination of extraterrestrial terror and anti-conformity paranoia is considered one of the great cult classics of the genre.
Ju-On
An eerie tale of a family who is brutally killed in their own home leaving behind an evil spirit lurking in the shadows. When an unknowing homecare worker enters, the spirit is awakened and a terrifying chain of events begins, passing through all those who step foot in this dark house.
Thank you
David

Received this morning from Amazon Canada

A little rant if I may :hmmmm:

Look at the back cover and check the extras and specifications

OK but what is the problem?

Result after I did the profile...
Wrong audio (like the Blu-Ray), no behind the scenes video, no trailer, no Eli Roth (not that I really cared about this one), no spanish subtitles and no close caption.

Sure Anchor Bay was a good label at the birth of the DVD format but certainly not anymore... Seriously what kind of crappy quality control is that? I guess Troma would have done a better job with this.

I'm getting old stuff this week.  All on DVD except where noted...

The Movies Begin (133 short films from the silent era)
The Mark of Zorro (1920 silent featuring original score newly recorded)
Griffith Masterworks (4 features plus shorts by D.W. Griffith)
Ben-Hur Ultimate Collector's Set on Blu-ray limited edition in a big box.

One of the extras in the Ben-Hur special features disc is the silent Ben-Hur film from 1925. :tv:

Arrived in the mail today...

The Dead Pit

Dr. Ramzi (Danny Gochnauer), a deviant who enjoys torturing his patients, is killed by a fellow doctor and buried in the basement of a mental health facility. Twenty years later, the hospital is up and running again and a "Jane Doe" (Cheryl Lawson) arrives at the institute with amnesia. Upon her arrival, a major earthquake rocks the building and unearths the now undead Dr. Ramzi and his legion of zombie patients so he can continue his work.

A gift from a good friend. Sent it along with a note asking that I review it during my October marathon. So there is a good chance this may be the first thing I watch in October!

I actually prefer that version to the 1950s one.
A shame WB only encoded it in SD.  :(
