Thanks Jon... Sounds like something I can enjoy... but I definitely have to be in the right mood for it. If I am not in just the right mood for something like that I won't enjoy it... and it would seem more like work to watch it then anything else.

After having to get that TV I wasn't going to do it... but I wanted it so bad I just couldn't resist... so I did order 1 TV Show boxset for $18 and change...

Prime Time Crime: The Stephen J. Cannell Collection
Stephen J. Cannell found his fame in Hollywood as the creator of a long list of hit TV shows that include "21 Jump Street", "Wiseguy", "Hunter", "Silk Stalkings" and "The Commish".

This 10 DVD set includes highlights from these and several more landmark television series, but what makes this collection truly valuable is the inclusion of 4 complete series that have NEVER BEEN RELEASED on any home video format:

Broken Badges (Starring Miguel Ferrer, Charlotte Lewis and Ernie Hudson)

Palace Guards (Starring DW Moffett, Marcy Walker and Tony Lo Bianco)

UNSUB (Starring David Soul, Richard Kind and Jennifer Hetrick)

Missing Persons (Starring Fredrick Weller, Erik King and Jorja Fox)

Emmy?-winning writer/producer Stephen J. Cannell has experienced a highly successful career spanning 3 decades. He has created or co-created more than 40 shows, of which he scripted more than 450 episodes and produced or executive produced more than 1500 episodes.

This incredible 54 episode collection features some of the greatest moments from TV's most popular crime dramas as well as big-name stars including Michael Chiklis, Fred Dryer, Jeff Goldblum, Ken Wahl, William Katt, Miguel Ferrer, Michael Dudikoff and Johnny Depp.

Roger... as resident Westerns expert... what can you tell me about The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada ?

I think Roger may have missed this...  ;)

Western is an emotive term, although technically correct. Three Burials is a strange film, but quite brilliant. I really can't make a call on whether you'll like it or not, Pete. It's a drama, so no action to speak of, but it's a very emotional story, so engrossing nonetheless.

Jon, is right...I missed that question.  I have to admit I have not seen this film and have not really even heard of it before.  I must admit I prefer my westerns to be set in the past rather than in contemporary times.

Feeling a little guilty about this... I canceled this month's pre-order. It was a horror movie... I have time to get it before October.

Oh, it's an excellent film, Pete, no doubt about it. It's just quirky and not known for it's gunfights.

I can't remember the exact details, but basically, Tommy Lee Jones has a Mexican friend. I believe he employs him. Estrada is killed by an over zealous border patrolman and buried with minimal fuss like any old criminal. Tommy, determined to do right by Estrada and bury him in his home town in Mexica, kidnaps Barry Pepper (the border cop) and forces him to dig up Estrada and carry him across the border. Along the way, Pepper is fearful for his life and there is gallows humour with the body of Estrada ever-present! But it's actually a poignant story about morals overall.

I do wonder if it had any influence on Tommy Lee Jones' next contemporary Western, No Country For Old Men.

  Jeanine Meerapfel Box Set
R0-DE Neue Visionen/Indigo (2008)

Contains:
Malou (DE 1981)
Im Land meiner Eltern (DE 1981, AKA In the Land of My Parents)
Die Kümmeltürkin geht (DE 1985, AKA Melek Leaves)
Die Verliebten (DE/YU 1987, AKA Days to Remember)
La amiga (AR/DE 1988)
Desembarcos - Es gibt kein Vergessen (AR/DE 1986-89, AKA Desembarcos When Memory Speaks)
Amigomío (AR/DE 1995)
Annas Sommer (DE/GR/ES 2001, AKA Anna's Summer)
Mosconi - Oder wem gehört die Welt (AR/DE 2007, AKA Mosconi - Or to Whom the World Belongs)

Actually I just wanted to revisit Meerapfel's debut feature Malou, which I love for very personal reasons. Unfortunately, it isn't available separately anywhere. So today I decided on a whim to go all overkill and pony up the 50 euros for this set.
