Les Filles du Botaniste (Amazon.de)
A French-produced Chinese movie for my lesbian movie marathon.
Duplicate (Amazon.de)
Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role. A cheap blind buy.
Parineeta (Amazon.de)

The Texan was a CBS western that ran for 2 seasons and which starred Rod Cameron.  It was made back in the days there were tons of westerns and a time when many dramatic shows had half-hour running times.  This is a 10-disc set that contains 70 episodes...that's all but about 10 of the episodes made for this series.

Nobody knows what or who is leaving behind mangled remains on the banks of a Louisiana River until it is revealed that there is one breed of shark that can live in fresh water - a giant carnivore, stalking the living under the surface.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it too. Pete, have I mentioned before, that Scorcese has made this specifically with Val Lewton in mind? It's his homage to the B-movie, dark style that Lewton did so well. After you enjoyed the boxset so much, I think you'd have fun picking the references out.

These may be my last titles for awhile, possibly my only titles for August...

We have here the first season of Bonanza and the second season of Rawhide, both of these being in two volumes.  I'm surprised it took this long to get an official season release of Bonanza.  Prior to this were just some public domain releases...in North America at least.  They have released three seasons of Rawhide so far...I have just the first two.  I dislike that they put Clint Eastwood front and center on the covers of all the Rawhide DVD covers.  He's the big star now, sure, but at the time he was the second lead.  Eric Fleming was the real star of the show.

The last title is a 3-disc set containing 15 episodes of a lesser-known series called Cimarron City.  Lesser known?  Heck, even I have never seen this show.George Montgomery, Dan Blocker and William Smith were in this series.

Roger... as resident Westerns expert... what can you tell me about The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada ?

I think Roger may have missed this...  ;)

Western is an emotive term, although technically correct. Three Burials is a strange film, but quite brilliant. I really can't make a call on whether you'll like it or not, Pete. It's a drama, so no action to speak of, but it's a very emotional story, so engrossing nonetheless.
