The Cosby Show
'Is That My Boy'
When Theo gets chosen to be on the school football team, Cliff reminisces aviyt gus glory days playing football and helps Theo practice in the street.

'Breaking With Tradition'
After being locked out of the house by Theo, Cliff's father tries to convince Denise to attend his college alma mater rather then Princton University.

'Theo and the Older Woman'
Denise brings home her classmate Suzanne to work together on a school project, prompting Theo to change his closthes, clean his room and act as charming as possible to win a date with Suzanne.

'Food for Thought'
When Claire challenges Cliff to stop eating foods rich with cholesterol and salt for just one day, Cliff sends Theo over to a friend's house to bring back a dish of "pulpata."

My Thoughts:
This is one of those Best of Discs that Columbia House had way back before TV Shows on DVD became so popular. Once the season sets came out... a friend of mine sent me all the Columbia House discs he had. The episodes on this disc are all from the earlier seasons... and all of them were fun episodes. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Three's Company: Season 7 (Disc 3)

My Thoughts:
Here lately I have felt like something more light-hearted. This is a classic series that I always found fun to watch. John Ritter has always been a favorite of mine. He is hilarious in this show... so I really enjoyed the episodes on this disc.

Flash Gordon: Space Soldiers: Conquers the Universe
Flash Gordon (Buster Crabbe), Dale Arden (Carol Hughes) and Dr. Zarkov must once again go to the planet Mongo and fight the evil emperor Ming (Charles Middleton) in this third of the Flash Gordon serials. Tracing the source of the "Purple Death" to Mongo, our group of adventurers flies to there in Dr. Zarkov's rocket where they discover that Emperor Ming, whom they believed had been killed at the end of their last battle is still alive. He is threatening to not only conquer all of Mongo, but also is attacking Earth again, using a "Death Dust" spread by his spaceships that will eventually destroy everyone on Earth. Old allies and new assist Flash in stopping Ming's efforts and saving the Earth.

My Thoughts:
I watched this movie serial today. Yes... the whole 4hr serial. I know most serial fans would chastise me for watching it in such a matter... but that is ok... I am an impatient person... and that is the whole point of DVDs... what what you want when you want... including how much of it you want.

This is the second Flash Gordon serial I watched. The first one just being Flash Gordon: Space Soldiers. I enjoyed this one just as much as I did the first one. I must admit though... when I started this serial first thing this morning.... my daughter came in to say goodbye before heading off to school... and asked what in the world I was watching. She knows about serials and has watched a couple with me already. But when I told her what this one was... she asked... What is Flash Gordon!?! I must admit.. I felt old... as Flash Gordon is really before my time... but I at least grew up knowing who he is. But it looks like I know what to show her next time around!

This being one of those cheap public domain sets the quality is less then perfect to be sure. But it is definitely watchable with little annoying interruptions. Chapter 4 was the worst it got... with some picture interruption... and then it was still watchable. then in the final chapter for about 30 seconds the picture wanted to slightly role. But over all I can't complain... especially considering I got this serial plus one other in a boxset for only $5.99... the other serial with it being The Green Archer.

Show her the movie, if you have it, I think that it will be a good introduction to Flash Gordon.

The boxset release by image entertainment is suppose to have the best quality (at least that's what I read everywhere). It is not very costly 14.99$ new at Amazon and you got all the Flash Gordon serial.

Scrubs: Season 2

My Thoughts:
Wow!... I don't know what it really is about this show... but once I start watching it I just can not stop!  I actually watched the whole second season in a day and a half since getting it yesterday afternoon! There is just something about this show that tickles me... even though I know the comedy in Scrubs is immature to say the least. I think Sarah Chalke is great in this show. In one episode her character's father came to visit her in the hospital... and the only thing that I could think of was how funny it would have been if they could have gotten John Goodman for the role since she did play Becky on the sitcom Roseanne for a year.  Anyway... it is a great set... I enjoyed every second of it... and it has a nice collection of extras... even though I didn't check them all out yet. The only extra I checked out was the blooper reel. Which of course was fun.

The Green Archer
The struggle over a family estate ends up with one brother accused of murder and apparently killed on the way to prison, while the other brother takes control of the estate for his own nefarious plans. The estate is being used by the evil brother as a base for his jewelry theft ring and he kidnaps his brother's wife to keep things quiet. Will the efforts of the woman's family be successful in freeing her and what does the mysterious Green Archer have to do with solving this case?

My Thoughts:
Well.... took me 3 days... but finally got through this movie serial. I really enjoyed it a lot... though I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the Superman and the Batman serials. One thing... not that it really bugged me... but did make it a little confusing was that there was more then one Green Archer... the real Green Archer and a bad guy that dressed as the Green Archer. There was no really big reveal on who the real Green Archer was... I mean they let us know... but it wasn't a surprise. They went with the most obvious choice. So much so that I figured out who he was in the very first chapter. But over-all definitely a fun watch that I am sure I will enjoy again. The quality was definitely lacking. There was a light hissing noise in the audio through-out the entire serial. And there was a few minor video problems here and there as well. But when you get a boxset of 2 movie serials for only $5.99 you really don't expect pristine quality.

My Thoughts:
Being a big fan of Bruce Campbell's... I just couldn't resist when I found this set on sale for just under $25! It was a complete Blind Buy... so I just couldn't wait to get my first taste of the show. The first disc has the pilot movie and the next 2 episodes. I have to say.. I already love every minute of it! It is lots of fun in the normal Bruce Campbell style. I can hardly wait to watch some more of it!

Prison Break: Season 1 (Discs 1-2)
Most men would do anything to get out of Fox River Penitentiary, but Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) will do anything to get in. His brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) has been sentenced to die for a crime he did not commit, and the only way to save him is from the inside out.

Armed with prison blueprints and an impossibly intricate escape plan, Michael gets himself incarcerated, and the race against time is on. Now, he'll need all of the cunning, daring, and luck he can muster...along with the assistance of some of the prison's most vile and dangerous felons.

My Thoughts:
OK... just what I needed. Another series to be hooked on! I already watched 8 episodes of this series... and each episode makes you not want to wait to see the next. Well I am going to be strong here... and put the set to the side for about a week now so that I don't end up watching this series all at once. I really like the brothers in this show... and can't wait to see how/if they make it out of there. I was also surprised to see that Robin Tunney co-stars in this series... I really liked her in the movie "The Craft" where she played a young witch. OK... forcing myself to put this set away now.

The Addams Family: Vol. 2 (Disc 1 Side A)

My Thoughts:
I always enjoyed this classic sitcom. It is one that I got my daughter, Brittany hooked on. So much so that I ended up with the entire series... even though I only bought the first volume. I bought Volume 1 and Brittany watched and fell in love with the show. Then she turned around and bought me volume 2 for Fathers Day this past year... then she bought me vol. 3 this past Christmas. So I thought that was pretty cool... I ended only having to buy the first set.

I always see people saying they either prefer this one over "The Munsters"... or prefer "The Munsters" over "The Addams Family"... well I am one of the (apparent) few that really enjoy both series. Even though I am yet to get "The Munsters" sets... I do plan on it.

It was really good watching these episodes again... some of these episodes I have not seen in many years... others I don't remember at all. I only caught the show in re-runs (of course... since the show aired before I was born)... so it is very possible there is episodes I have never seen... which is always a plus.

My Thoughts:
This show was one of my many TV Series  Blind Buys. I bought the first 3 seasons all at once when I found them on a buy 1 get 1 free sale. I wouldn't say this is the best cop show I ever seen... but it is definitely a good one. I enjoyed it. It is worth checking out if you like cop shows.

OMG! Hunter! There's a blast from the past. My mum and dad worked off-licence retail for many years. The shop would close at 10pm and by the time everything was cleared up, they'd get home way past 11. They'd arrive armed with pizza, jacket spuds or some other takeaway nosh. Stick the telly on. That time of night used to be a slot for imported stuff like Hunter. They really liked it without making any effort. Others in this slot would be Spencer for Hire or Equalizer. Quality!

I know pizza... hey! I am Italian after all!  But... what in the world is jacket spuds? Is it something I know but just not by that name or something that we don't get at all over here?

Ha! "Spud" is "Potato"; "Jacket" means it's been baked in its skin, no peeling at all. You take your spud (large sized), stab it, bake it, cut it open, add butter, possibly cheese. Then add more toppings. Beans is fave of mine. In local towns you can often find a street seller with a portable oven responding favourably to cries of "Jacket spud, cheese and beans!"
