Wow... already on page 2 of the thread... and only reviewed 1 episode so far! If that becomes the norm... this will be a very long thread!  :P

What? When did I say that? I've been halfway through season 9 for about 3 years!
A case of bad memory :-[
But my point rest valid since you aren't neutral about this because you don't like the change after the season 7.

It's because we like to argue

The X-Files: Season 1

2. Deep Throat
Original Air Date: September 17, 1993
Mulder and Scully investigate the strange disappearance of an army test pilot. They uncover secret military medical experiments, which are being performed on pilots who have flown aircraft that were built using alien technology.

Guest Stars:
Jerry Hardin as Deep Throat
Michael Bryan French as Paul Mossinger
Seth Green as Emil
Gabrielle Rose as Anita Budahas
Monica Parker as Ladonna

My Thoughts:
Second episode... and still on the UFOs and such. Not that it is a bad episode. It is interesting. But the main reason I am doing this is to see the Freak-of-the-week episodes again. As I said... those has always been my favorite episodes. As I said... I do like this episode but not as much as I did the pilot. I did like the light show in the sky in this one though (about 15 min into the episode). I also liked Seth Green as stoner UFO watcher.

The X-Files: Season 1

3. Squeeze
Original Air Date: September 24, 1993
Eugene Tooms, who can 'squeeze' his body through any space and comes out of hibernation every thirty years to kill people for their liver is on the loose and Mulder and Scully must find him before he kills again.

Guest Stars:
Doug Hutchison as Eugene Victor Tooms
Donal Logue as Tom Colton
Henry Beckman as Det. Frank Briggs
Kevin McNulty as Fuller
Terence Kelly as Usher

My Thoughts:
Here we go... the first Freak-of-the-Week episode. And one I always liked very much! This one kept my interest from beginning to end. It has a good story. I think Doug Hutchison did a wonderful job as Tooms... he had that certain look about him that made you believe he was some sort of psychotic killer. And I also loved how they did the effects of him stretching and fitting into such small places. We will see this character again later in the season.

The X-Files: Season 1

4. Conduit
Original Air Date: October 1, 1993
When a young Iowa girl mysteriously vanishes without a trace, Mulder must confront his own feelings about his sister Samantha's dissapearance.

Guest Stars:
Carrie Snodgress as Darlene Morris
Michael Cavanaugh as Sheriff
Don Gibb as Kip
Joel Palmer as Kevin Morris
Charles Cioffi as Chief Blevins

My Thoughts:
After an excellent episode we are back to the whole UFO thing.  Though it is a good story... I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as Squeeze. Though I must admit... I did like how they did the effects in this movie. I liked how they did the biker/bartender's mutilated ear.

Season 1 Disc 1 Over-all
It is a good start to an awesome series. Though it is a little alien heavy for so early into the series. But as I said... I much prefer the freak-of-the-week episodes anyway. This is one of the first series (if not the first series) to get season set releases. So it is pretty limited on ideas such as no play all function. But as long as I have had this set now... it still plays wonderfully. As for extras... there is some offered...

Extras:
- International Clips
- Deleted Scenes

This is one of the first series (if not the first series) to get season set releases.
And it was quite expensive to get them. My first 6 seasons are those collector set and they look great, the 3 others are the cheap version who doesn't look that great... But more than 150$ by season was/is a lot of money.

BTW you have forgot to mention the commentary on the pilot, the TV spot and the computer game in the extras.

Double checking that now... but didn't see them listed.

And yes... they were very expensive!

The X-Files: Season 1

5. The Jersey Devil
Original Air Date: October 8, 1993
The agents investigate a series of murders thought to be committed by a half man half beast dubbed the 'Jersey Devil'.

Guest Stars:
Claire Stansfield as Jersey Devil
Wayne Tippit as Det. Thompson
Gregory Sierra as Dr. Diamond
Michael MacRae as Ranger Peter Boulle
Jill Teed as Glenna

My Thoughts:
Another excellent episode. Though this one may be because I am from New Jersey... and I am familiar with the legend of The Jersey Devil... though the show did take their liberties with the legend. I must admit I got a kick out of the discussion Mulder had with Scully's old professor. And that date Scully went on just looked painful.

The X-Files: Season 1

6. Shadows
Original Air Date: October 22, 1993
Mulder and Scully investigate a series of unusual murders committed by ghostly force.

Guest Stars:
Barry Primus as Robert Dorland
Lisa Waltz as Lauren Kyte
Lorena Gale as Ellen Bledsoe
Veena Sood as Ms. Saunders
Deryl Hayes as Webster

My Thoughts:
This one is a good episode with an interesting story. I liked seeing that guy getting hit by no one... and blood flying. Looked pretty cool.
