In House of Wax (1953), Vincent Price starred as Prof. Henry Jarrod, the curator of a wax museum which displayed characters from history who met untimely deaths. As the film progresses, we find out that Jarrod uses real human beings, dipped in melted wax to create the waxen sculptures.

I couldn't repeat any of it, but I once read a review how the entire movie hinges around that scene and how taking it out (like they do on german TV ) is like castration to the film.
