Amazon is having a pretty good sale on their TV sets.
link

Probably the most interesting part is May 12th is the start of TV week in the Gold Box section. Anyone familiar with Amazon knows these Gold Box prices can be really cheap. Many of the deals are available for only a few hours though. I'll try to watch it closely and post here next week if I see any super bargains.

I am not familiar with this... Are the sale items just going to have their low prices for short times? Can you just place them in the shopping cart when you see them and stil complete the purchase later or do you have to buy while the price is low?

The "Gold Box" sales are special prices for a limited time. If you check out this page you will see what the "deal of the day" is. Today it is a digital picture frame. That price will be good all day (till Midnight Pacific Time I believe). On the right hand side of the page is a section called "lightning deals" Each one of those is only good for 4 hours. Last week I picked up this for $80.00 on a lightning deal. The lightning deals either expire after 4 hours or sell out in the 4 hours (or less) and are then no longer available.

I'm not sure how it would work if you have something in your cart already. Even if there was some type of notification (like there is when the price increases or decreases) I don't know if that would be much of an advantage anyway. You still have to go to Amazon and check the items in your cart, might as well click in the gold box link to see what's available.

It is a hit and miss thing. And the deals are on everything Amazon sells so most of the time I'm not interested. But when the DVDs pop up I am very interested  Next week I'll be checking the site often I'm sure  ;D

So I actually click on the Gold Boxes, if I see them next week? And then I should find sale items, which will probably be DVDs next week? I think I'll give it a try next week, just to find out what is behind all that.

What I meant was, as I never get free shipping (being abroad and all), I would need to collect several items in the Shopping Cart and then check out all at once. I tried combining orders recently, but I have always been unlucky and was told I couldn't do that with the orders I tried.

thanks for the explanations, Rick.

Haven't seen S3 yet, but S1 and S2 would be totally worth it!

So far I've not purchased anything. Yesterday was close... even closer than Mondays was.

I already have House or I would most likely get it. It's a show you either love or hate. I happen to love it but I know many who can't stand it.

Well the week was a bust for me.

I was actually quite disappointed with the lack of titles. I expected more lightning deals (the 4 hour only ones)

Oh well. Shouldn't spend the cash anyway  :yu:

I guess there are two more days. I forget they have them through the weekend (probably because they don't do the lightning deals on Saturday or Sunday).

Dogie Howser eh...  :headscratch: Used to watch it. I remember it as being good. Something I notice now that meant nothing when I originally watched the show 20 years ago, it is produced by Steven Bochco (Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law & N.Y.P.D. Blue - all great shows). Also involved in the series is David E Kelly (The Practice, Boston Public, Boston Legal, Chicago Hope & Ally McBeal - Not a fan of Ally McBeal but really enjoy all the others).

With that in mind I think I'll grab this set. It will be interesting to watch and see if I can spot Bochco's or Kelley's influences.

and done!  :yu: 4 seasons of Doogie on the way  :thundergod:
