I like the theme to The Big Bang Theory...but it's too short.  Some of the shows which still have songs at the beginning of their shows are too short.  Look at How I Met Your Mother...their "theme" is about 12 seconds long.  I liked back when themes were a minute long and you could sing along...themes to Rawhide, Gilligan's Island, Maverick, etc.  I have over a half-dozen CDs of nothing but TV themes.

And I might bring on the hatred for this one, but I like the song, and want it or not, it fits the show, despite it breaking tradition:
I like the Enterprise intro, too.

Quote
I can't leave this thread without mentioning some of my favorite Anime openings (yeah, I like a lot of them!):
Azumanga Daioh, Noir and Full Metal Panic get my vote, too.

Other anime intros I like:

Genshiken

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Gunslinger Girl

Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino

Ah My Goddess: Season 2 (Season 1 is good also)

Gokusen

Great 80s cartoons like

He-Man

M.A.S.K.

As for live-action series, here some intro that I enjoy:

Cheers

GTO

Babylon 5 (especially the season 3 opening)

Psych

Friends

Knight Rider

Highlander the Series

Dawson's Creek (I always like the international version of the first season intro. It is also used for later seasons for the DVD release after they couldn't obtain the rights for "I Don't Want to Wait")

and of course Buffy, Angel, Star Trek TNG/DS9/VOY.

I know I listed a lot, but I probably forgot a lot of other great ones.

Weird. I heard American Hero again just recently and found I was able to sing-along verbatim! :-[

X-men

Adventure of Sonic the hedgehog

Darkwing Duck

Bonkers

Im sure there are more new programs... I just can't think of them.

Speaking of cartoon intros, one I always liked was Hanna-Barbera's World of Super Adventure.  It was a syndicated umbrealla title that collected episodes of Fantastic  Four, Space Ghost, The Herculoids and others.  It was a very dramatic opening.

Oh, well, if we're getting into cartoons, consider the bar set high...  :P

Here's one for Pete! Count Duckula, plus end credits, because they're quality:

While I'm on a nostalgia kick, why don't I remember Beauty and the Beast being this soppy?

And I caught an episode of this the other day. It hasn't aged well at all! But Glynis Barber? Definitely would.

So that got me thinking about my other fave cop shows... can anyone spot a pre-Nine Sisko?

Finally, here's a classic theme that Critter should know. :tease: My mum and dad loved this show, even though, deep down, they knew it was terrible...

My 2 favorites would have to be Giligan's Island and The A Team.

The one that started the decline and did them all in... Lost (at least here in the states). Now more and more shows are giving up their theme songs for an extra 15-30 seconds of advertising time that can be sold.

I've always liked the Lost intro. It has an eerie feel to it that fits perfectly. The fact they may be selling extra commercials by making the opening shorter doesn't affect me since I only watch on DVD though.

Keenan and Kel

Grounded for Life

That 70's Show

I couldn't find the themes to One on One or the Royle Family but they are also very good.

I don't care for theme music - they always stick in my head and that drives me crazy because I can't get it out of there. The Brady Bunch theme anyone?!? Whenever I watch a DVD I fast forward through the themes. This is kind of strange for me because I love music but intros...can't stand 'em.

Whenever I watch a DVD I fast forward through the themes.

I usually do that as well (I guess most people do), except for the ones I listed earlier. Those I always let play, even when watching multiple episodes in a row. But as I said, it isn't the music alone, it is the combination of images and music that does it for me in those cases.

I am also a skipper and hate it when they don't put a chapter stop right after the credits. The only exception is The Big bang Theory where it's always fun trying to spot a new image when they are just flying by the screen...
