I have it on DVD, I think it's a 50th Anniversary edition or something but that's the only one I have. And I have no desire to buy any further editions, maybe a blu-ray one day in the future but not anytime soon.

You've never seen The Sound of Music? You should check it out, it was one of my favourite films as a kid. I think when I was 10 years old I used to watch it almost everyday, our VHS of it basically stopped working by the end.

I don't think so, that stuff isn't for me. Plus I can't stand Julie Andrews. :suicide:

Ah, we are almost kindred spirits! I too cannot stomach the average musical; it's a fundamentally flawed concept to me. However, I'm British and therefore it is impossible for me to dislike Julie Andrews. ;)

Despite my fundamental dislike of musicals, I do think Mary Poppins is one of the absolute best children's films.

Don't even get me started on Mary Poppins, every time I see her I just want to slap her face.

 I find that hilarious that you say that Jon. I sometimes feel like I'm one of the only musical lovers in this entire forum, yet I just can't stand Mary Poppins.

If you want to see the worst musical in the history of cinema watch Thoroughly Modern Millie. I couldn't even finish watching it, seriously I wanted to fucking stab myself.

I should mention I also like musicals...maybe not all of them (I haven't seen Fred Astaire dance since I was a kid) but I do like Mary Poppins...

Have you seen the Family Guy parody? Peter going through old jobs he wasn't any good at remembers being a Nanny. Seriously, don't look for it if you're easily offended!

No decent clips on YouTube, so I'll post this again instead. It's a fantastic demo of the power of editing:

Don't ask me.

It's my top 1 all time favourite film. I had such a strong reaction to it and still do that it's probably the only film I can't objectively review. And I won't try. So just watch the damn thing yourself!  :P

I wound up ordering the new longer-than-ever Dances With Wolves.  As I said, it's my first copy of the movie since laserdisc.  I also ordered the Sam Raimi western The Quick and the Dead which is currently on sale for about $10.  ::)

The Quick and the Dead is a fun film and I don't think you'll regret getting the Blu-ray, the quality is quite alright.

Dances with Wolves is a good strong film. If you liked Avatar, you should like this too  For me it's not a film I cod watch all that often, but I'd recommend watching it at least once. I have the Blu-ray on my Wisk List as well, but am hesitant because it's apparently the Extnded Cut only.

Oh good grief, has it come to this? "If you like Avatar..."  :-X

By the way, what's a "wisk" list? :tease:
