The Expendables

 :bag:This looks rilly, rilly bad
Transylmania

:hmmmm:This looks as though it could be a fairly interesting documentary.
Harlan

Plot:
Though almost forgotten today, Veit Harlan was one of Nazi Germany's most notorious filmmakers. His most perfidious film was the treacherous anti-Semitic propaganda film Jew Süss-required viewing for all SS members. An unrepentant and blindly obsessive craftsman, no figure-save for Leni Riefenstahl-is as closely associated with the cinema of the Holocaust years. (Harlan's 1945 epic Kolberg was the basis for Inglourious Basterds' pivotal film-within-a-film Stolz Der Nation.) Harlan - In the Shadow of "Jew Süss" is an eye-opening examination of World War II film history as well as the story of a German family from the Third Reich to the present, one that is marked by reckoning, denial and liberation.

Harlan looks fascinating and well done.

Transylmania won't be getting my vote! :P But that said, at least it isn't Date Movie, Disaster Movie, etc. I bet Pete would like it...  ;)

I'm fairly certain Transylmania came out in 2009 and pretty much disappeared from theaters after its first week out.

The Other Guys
It looks better than the previous stuff from the same team (Tallaluga Nights and Stepbrothers)! Might be fun to watch and seems to have great casting including smaller roles! But what's up with those terrible back projections in the first scenes of the trailer....?

Remember my review of The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra that I wrote more than one year ago? No... it's here

I heard some of you telling So what's your point? OK not really since I'm alone on the forum while I write this...

So here it is...

The sequel will be released this summer :yahoo:

Of course this kind of film isn't for everybody, but the first one is the best comedy I've watched in this millenium.

You can pre-order it from amazon here.

and at the same occasion you can also take a chance on another Larry Blamire project release also the same day.

This one looks like a take on the "murders in a locked house" genre of the fifties.

You can pre-order it here.

Was it meant to be a comedy or did it just turn out that way?

What a bummer, found out that there are no English subtitles ("Spanish with Chinese subtitles" only). My friend will still see it tonight, leaving me jealous, while I will go and see Iron Man 2 instead.

It's a comedy. It was an hommage to the old fifties science fiction movies and a good one at it. It was made with a lot of respect to the genre. OK the genre itself isn't supposed to be funny at first, but most of those films are and the film keep it that way. I've waited so long for the sequel that it's already pre-ordered (even the other one and it's not my type of film, but since I like Blamire it's worth a try and for 10.49$ this isn't a big risk to take), the only thing I don't like are the covers who aren't really good. But I want to watch the movies not the covers...

It's ended up being all socially concious as well, post the new immigration laws in Arizona. Which I only learned about from comments tacked onto articles about this film. :bag:

Earlier in this thread, I was wondering if any other westerns were on the way and we of course discussed the new True Grit a bit.  I just learned of another on the way which surprises me because it's actually due out just next  month and I'm mostly surprised I hadn't heard of it before now.  The film is Jonah Hex which was based on a DC comic book series from the 1970s.  I used to read that a lot.  It was about a one-time confederate soldier turned bounty hunter who also happened to have a mangled face...I think that was due to a run-in with a bear if I remember correctly.  Josh Brolin has the lead...ironically, he's also in True Grit.  Megan Fox is also in it...strange, I can't quite see her in a western...if it is a true western.  I remember after Jonah Hex's regular run they had the character go into the future in a sci-fi strip...which always sounded pretty weird to me.  I never read any of those, however.  The comments I read at IMDB didn't sound too promising so my hopes aren't particularly high for this film but I'll wait until it gets officially reviewed.
