My Christmas Holiday Ham
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:32:09 PM »
The first thing I do every year when my Christmas Holiday starts is cook my famous ham.  I do it only once a year because I'm supposed to be on a low sodium diet.

Recipe:

1 Big Picnic Ham
1/2 cup of Maple Syrup
1 Beer (Any beer will do but I use "Blanche de Chambly", the soft taste of white beers goes well with the maple syrup)
1 Tea Spoon dry mustard

Remove the net from the Ham but leave the fat and put it in a Crockpot, add the beer, maple syrup and mustard and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours.

Crockpots are very inexpensive, ask your family to get you an early Christmas gift that you can use to make their dinner ;)

Tonight I'll be eating the best ham in the world while watching some movies.

Anyone else has something special they cook every year for the Holidays ?

Nope, but that's how he's been making his ham for as long as I can remember.

I have an aunt called Nathalie... and it's not impossible she might've given her recipe to my dad  :hmmmm:

I don't eat meat but this sounds like something my mother will love - I've sent her the recipe - thank you.

It is very tasty! And if you feel a little adventurous, you can use the cooking juice as a soup base for pea soup! ;)

I just ordered a Chinese. I asked them if they did ham in maple syrup, but sadly not. Had to stick with the special fried rice... ???

:slaphead: It's not Christmas yet...

I only get a proper Christmas meal when I am back home in germany and my mom cooks for us. Usually she'll roast a duck or goose.

When in Taiwan I may choose to have a nice lunch or dinner with friends, in fact chances are there will be one such dinner on Friday. If not, then I'll eat rather boring everyday food at home.

You should have asked them for a number 69, I always enjoy that

:yellowcard: to myself for being potty mouthed after too much alcohol intake
