The time has come.
One week from today I'll be having surgery to remove the tumor on my Pituitary gland I told you guys about a few months ago. One surgeon will clear the way through the sinuses (apparently straightening a crooked septum while she's in there) and will cut a hole in the back of the sinus cavity. Then the neurosurgeon will go in and cut the tumor out. Needless to say I've been a bit worried about the whole process for quite some time now. The tumor sits between the optic nerve, my carotid artery and the brain. And I'm going to have a guy with a laser scalpel up one nostril and a scope to see what he's doing up the other.
Yea... what could POSSIBLY go wrong!
I'm traveling about 500 miles to a hospital in Atlanta to have the surgery. It was quite an ordeal arranging it so the wife, kids and parents can be there for the surgery and someone will be able to help care for my wife while she visits me in the hospital. I finished the last reservation modification yesterday. Even if there are some complications I have plans B and C ready to go.
After I am released from the hospital I will be staying with my brother for a couple of weeks. I'm told the risk of post op complications is better than normal with this type of surgery (the biggest risk is spinal fluid leaking) so we decided to stay as close to the hospital as we could, without paying for a hotel room for a month. I'll be bringing my computer with me to his house and will hopefully be able to work from there, at least some of the time. I'm also hoping to get my DVDP Db caught up (haven't entered a new movie into it in 3 months
)
It's going to be a crazy weekend. 20 people for Thanksgiving tomorrow (my brother and his family have already arrived) and then I have to pack up my office and try to get everything I need to be away from home for 3 - 4 weeks. I'll be on throughout the weekend but not sure how much. Still trying to get my alphabet marathon completed, I may have to change some of the movies to do it though.
I'm really not looking forward to the surgery and a bit tweaked about it, but it has to be done and the time has come.
