Going by Jon's review of The Val Lewton Collection right here on this site I better get the entire set! :P

And Jon... is this the same set you have? It seems to be... but Amazon mentions one called Shadow in the Dark but you don't mention that one. Is that an amazon mistake? or something you haven't watched yet?

I think I found my own answer that fast!... Shadows in the Dark is a documentary on Val Lewton... so it is an extra in the set?

Hope that you won't sacrifice the 50 movies set Pete :weep:
Of course the Val Lewton's movies are better, but I really hope that we will share some review and this is the only possibility we have

I'm such a big wuss that I have started to categorise some of my unwatched horror list I posted here earlier for recommendations with a 'not too scary' tag  :bag:
I think that you can watch those one without crying like a little girl :tease:

An American Haunting
Beyond Re-Animator
Black Christmas
Bloodrayne 2: Deliverance
The Bride of Frankenstein
Driller Killer (surprise that you own this one)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Frailty
Frankenstein
Ginger Snaps
Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (color me surprise, this movie is awfull...)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Ring Around The Rosie
Secret Window
The Skeleton Key
Zombie Holocaust :P
Zombie Flesh Eaters (it's a cut version of Zombi 2 without the most violent stuff)

P.S :
I Spit on Your Grave isn't an horror movie it's a revenge film. It's one of the best film that I've seen, but I'm not too sure it's a film for you

(click to show/hide)

The Card Player (if this is the Argento film) is not an horror movie but a Giallo

No... don't think I will... I already took out a few of the After Dark Horrorfest DVDs I was considering. (I didn't list all the movies I was considering above) I know some of you won't be happy... but also won't be surprised but don't think I will be getting the foreign horror this time. I still no good at keeping up with those damn subtitles! :P

As of right now (and this can change)... my list looks like...

- Black Christmas
- The Haunting in Connecticut
- Autopsy
- Slaughter
- Perkins' 14 (Maybe... sounds a little iffy)
- The Uninvited
- Brotherhood of Blood
- Vampire Collection: Collector's Edition Tin
- The Val Lewton Horror Collection
- Mortuary of Madness: 50 Movie Collection
- The Substitute

The above order alone would give me a total of 71 new horror movies to pick from next month!  And that isn't even mentioning the others I have here (and on order) that I haven't watched yet!

The Exorcism of Emily Rose

*Snicker*
That's the only one from the list that is slumbering on my wishlist for quite some time, if only for Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter).

The synopsis sound interesting, not that it looks that original but that could be a good one if it isn't too cheap.

Don't worry, I don't think we have the same movie taste... It could be your genre, this film is just too slow moving and on the drama side for my taste.

I found The Exorcism of Emily Rose to be interesting. I liked the combination of horror and court room drama. but I do enjoy court room stuff anyway. But even with that said... I have had it for years... and only watched it the once.  :bag:

I know. I just found it funny that from an arbitrary list of movies containing exactly one I have wishlisted, that one would qualify for a

Which is the reason why I said it was iffy... it sounds like it could be good... but I could also see it not being as good as it sounds. But I guess that is true for any movie. :P but if something else has to go... that would probably be the next one to go. :P

I enjoyed The Exorcism of Emily Rose, but it is more..drama than scary.

I'll have to see what horror type movies I have.  I don't have a lot and some I consider horror probably really aren't.

That's more than I thought.

I've seen Exorcist 2..that's why I don't own it.   :hysterical:

I have Sweeney Todd...I think of that as horror...and not because it is a musical.
Love at First Bite is a vampire movie..more comedy.

I was sort of considering The Sixth Sense, Stir of Echos and Silence of the Lambs in horror too....or at least major suspense.

Same Here!

I have Sweeney Todd...I think of that as horror...and not because it is a musical.
Love at First Bite is a vampire movie..more comedy.

I always count any comedies that have a horror/monster theme to it.

I was sort of considering The Sixth Sense, Stir of Echos and Silence of the Lambs in horror too....or at least major suspense.

Out of those... I do consider Sixth Sense and Stir of Echoes as horror... but I personally don't consider Silence of the Lambs as horror.

But as I said last year over at the Invelos forum... I consider this marathon as a Horror/Halloween marathon. I pretty much include anything that just feels right to me for that holiday. I even include stuff like the Halloween episodes of TV Series such as Roseanne, The Simpsons, Friends... pretty much anything as long as it feels like (to you) that it is a good fit for the best holiday there is... Halloween!

Go on, rub it in  :-[   Am I really the only one who watches some films from behind a cushion?

I have seen I Spit on Your Grave some years ago, possibly on VHS?? It made an impact but certainly could not be described as pleasurable viewing.

Card Player is the Argento film, and is self described as a vicious thriller about a serial killer.
