Question about Angels & Demons.... where it is a follow-up to The Da Vinci Code... should I see that one first before watching this one? Is there anything In wouldn't understand... or would it spoil The Da Vinci Code for me?

Chronologically, it was published after TDVC. It's been a while since I watched either movie, but I think they stand alone as far as one referncing the other. I feel you would be safe watching either first.

With the original books, Angels & Demons is first.  With the movies, they were made out of order.  I think the movies stand alone fairly well and you could see Angels & Demons first.  I can't remember for sure now, but I think there is just a minor reference to The DaVinci Code movie...someone makes a reference about what Robert did in Paris, but it is small.

Just watched Angels and Demons. Marie is correct, there are two minor references to "past entanglements with the church". Nothing that would require that you watch them in order of how they were filmed or the books published.

Seems like my friend noticed my question... because now she has added the following to my package.

The Da Vinci Code
Dan Brown's international bestseller comes alive in the film 'THE DA VINCI CODE', directed by Ron Howard with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman. Join symbologist Robert Langdon (Academy Award® Winner Tom Hanks, 1993 Best Actor, 'Philadelphia', and 1994 Best Actor, 'Forrest Gump') and cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou) in their heart-racing quest to solve a bizarre murder mystery that will take them from France to England - and behind the veil of a mysterious ancient society, where they discover a secret protected since the time of Christ. With first-rate performances by Sir Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina and Jean Reno, critics are calling 'THE DA VINCI CODE' "involving" and "intriguing," "a first rate thriller."

Forget Paris

Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, John Michael Higgins, Jane Lynch, Michael McKean, Bob Balaban and Fred Willard round out the cast of Hollywood types more than happy to exploit, bask in and leverage the Oscar® hype.
Fool's Gold

McConaughey is Finn, in love with his ex (Hudson) and in deep with gangster Bigg Bunny. After eight years of searching, Finn gets a clue to the whereabouts of the Queen's Dowry, a fabulous fortune that mysteriously disappeared in the Caribbean in 1715. Now all he has to do is get the gold, get the girl and get going before Bigg Bunny gets him. Directed by Andy Tennant ('Hitch'), 'Fool's Gold' glitters with danger, action, romance, comedy, great one-liners and – a great time to be had by all!
GoodFellas
When Martin Scorsese, one of the world’s most skillful and respected directors, reunited two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro in GoodFellas, the result was one of the most powerful films of the year. Based on the true-life best seller Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack, critics and filmgoers alike declared GoodFellas great. It was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performance. You have to see it to believe it-then watch again. GoodFellas explores the criminal life like no other movie.
Jackass: The Movie
all the jackasses you love from the mtv series are back performing stunts no one would let them pull on television.
Failure to Launch
Matthew McConaughey is Tripp, a 35-year-old who still lives with his parents. And who can blame him? It's free, he's got a great room, and mom (Kathy Bates) does the laundry. Desperate to get him out of the house, his parents hire a gorgeous woman, Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker), to give him a little...push. They just didn't expect Tripp would push back! Zooey Deschanel, Justin Bartha, Terry Bradshaw, and Alias'  Bradley Cooper co-star in this romantic battle of wills that proves there's no place like home.
Get Rich or Die Tryin'
In his film debut, hip-hop superstar Curtis '"50 Cent"' Jackson explodes across the screen in this hard-hitting urban drama from acclaimed director Jim Sheridan ('In America').

Following a near-fatal gun battle, Marcus ('"50 Cent"') recalls his journey from orphaned street kid from the Bronx to making his mark in the drug trade to teaming up with a fellow ex-con ('Terrence Howard') for his shot at becoming a successful rap artist.

This gripping tale, based on '"50 Cent's"' real life story, is "a film with a rich and convincing texture, a drama with power and anger."-'Roger Ebert'.
King Arthur
Now, from the producer of Pearl Harbor and the director of Training Day...experience the extended unrated director's cut of this hard-hitting action epic! Prepare for more thrills, more adventure and more intensity, as the heroic true story behind one of history's greatest legends explodes onto the screen! It is the valiant tale of Arthur (Clive Owen) and his bond of brotherhood with Lancelot (Ioan Gruffudd), and the loyalty of the Knights Of The Round Table as they fight for freedom and those they love. Also starring Keira Knightley as Guinevere, this never-before-seen King Arthur is a longer, grittier and more explicit motion picture – don't miss it!
The Golden Compass

When Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) becomes the keeper of the Golden Compass, she discovers that her world – and all those beyond – is threatened by the secret plans of Mrs. Coulter (Nicole Kidman). With the help of Lord Asriel (Daniel Craig) and a group of unlikely allies ready to stand at her side, Lyra embarks on an extraordinary quest that celebrates friendship and courage against all odds.
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Connor Mead is the kind of guy who dumps three girlfriends. At the same time. By teleconferance. So when he attends his brother's wedding he has a single goal: score with the only bridesmaid he somehow missed. But the ghost of his departed Uncle Wayne – who taught him to love 'em and leave 'em – has another goal in mind: restore Connor's lost faith in true love, a tough assignment requiring the services of many, many Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner and Michael Douglas and director Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Just Like Heaven) uncork a romantic romp as bubbly as wedding-toast champagne. It's the perfect comedy for anyone who believes in laughs and love. Or needs to.
Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle
Straitlaced, hard-working Harold (John Cho, the 'American Pie' movies) and his roommate, the rebellious, party-loving Kumar (Kal Penn, 'National Lampoon's Van Wilder') have only one thing in common - a serious case of the munchies. As they set out on a quest to satisfy their craving, Harold and Kumar's simple road trip turns into a hilarious all-night adventure filled with outrageous obstacles, dangerous detours and wildly twisted characters!

With a hysterically funny supporting cast including Neil Patrick Harris and Fred Willard, 'Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle' will take you on a rollercoaster comedy ride.
The Great Debaters
Two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington (American Gangster) directs and stars with Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) in this "important and deeply inspiring page from the not-so-distant past" (Richard Roeper, At the Movies with Ebert and Roeper). Inspired by a true story, Washington shines as a brilliant but politically radical debate team coach who uses the power of words to transform a group of underdog African American college students into an historical powerhouse that took on the Harvard elite. Featuring a superb cast of rising young actors, "The Great Debaters is marvelous entertainment that you should not miss" (Andrew Sarris, The New York Observer).

Woke this morning to another nice list of DVDs from my friend. Added to the list...

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
The fate of an empire rests on the shoulders of one man. Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe* commands the screen in this spectacular, high-seas adventure directed by Peter Weir.

After a sneak attack by a French warship inflicts severe damage upon his vessel, Captain "Lucky" Jack Aubrey (Crowe) is torn between duty and friendship as he embarks on a thrilling, high-stakes chase across two oceans to capture or destroy the enemy at any cost.

* 2000 - Best Actor - Gladiator
Man on Fire
Two-time Academy Award winner Denzel Washington ignites a masterpiece of mayhem in this "powerful" (LOS ANGELES TIMES) action-thriller. Hard-drinking, burned-out CIA operative John Creasy (Washington) has given up on life - until his friend Rayburn (Oscar winner Christopher Walken) gets him a job as a bodyguard to nine-year-old Pita Ramos (Dakota Fanning). Bit by bit, Creasy begins to reclaim his soul, but when Pita is kidnapped, Creasy's fiery rage is released and he will stop at nothing to save her.
Napoleon Dynamite
Napoleon Dynamite is a new kind of hero, complete with a tight 'fro, sweet moon boots, and skills that can't be topped. When two new friends enter Napoleon's life – shy Deb and mustachioed Pedro – the trio launches a campaign to elect Pedro for class president and make the student body's wildest dreams come true. But if Pedro is to beat stuck-up Summer, Napoleon will have to unleash his secret weapon...
Pathfinder
The heroic story of a young Norse man raised by Native American Indians who wages a personal war against the Vikings that barbarically raided his tribe.
Lost in Translation
Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) are two Americans in Tokyo.  Bob is a movie star in town to shoot a whiskey commercial, while Charlotte is a young woman tagging along with her workaholic photographer husband (Giovanni Ribisi).  Unable to sleep, Bob and Charlotte cross paths one night in the luxury hotel bar.  This chance meeting soon becomes a surprising friendship.  Charlotte and Bob venture through Tokyo, having often hilarious encounters with its citizens, and ultimately discover a new belief in life's possibilities.

Shot entirely on location in Japan, Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation is a valentine to the nature of close friendships and to the city of Tokyo.  Ms. Coppola's film, from her original screenplay, contemplates the unexpected connections we make that might not last — yet stay with us forever.
Legally Blonde & Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde
Legally Blonde
When her boyfriend ditches her simply because she's "too blonde," a beautiful fashion major (Reese Witherspoon) vows to do anything to get him back – even if it means going to law school!

Legally Blonde 2: RED, WHITE & BLONDE
When Elle (Witherspoon) discovers that her lovable Chihuahua Bruiser's mom is locked in a cruel animal testing facility, she heads to D.C. to fight for animal rights, give Washington a makeover and prove once and for all that America really is the land of the free...and the home of the blonde!
The Man in the Iron Mask
For the honor of the crown and the destiny of a country, the world's most renowned Musketeers reunite for one last epic battle. A sensational cast led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Oscar® winner Jeremy Irons*, John Malkovich, Gerard Depardieu and Gabriel Byrne shines in this lavish, action-packed and "wonderful movie [with] great performances" ("Access Hollywood").

It is a time of both splendor and despair. France's self-serving King Louis XIV (DiCaprio) enjoys the riches of the world while his people die of starvation. Believing that he is all-powerful, Louis fears no one — except the one person who could bring his reign to an end: the man he imprisoned for eternity behind a mask of iron. And when Louis' selfish excesses go too far, retired Musketeers Athos (Malkovich), Porthos (Depardieu) and Aramis (Irons) vow to free the mysterious prisoner who may be France's only hope for survival. Only one question remains: will their old comrade, the legendary D'Artagnan (Byrne), help them — or destroy them?

* 1990: Actor, Reversal of Fortune
Nicholas Nickleby
"I love Nicholas Nickleby!" exclaims Roger Ebert of this vibrant tale of intrigue, passion and revenge. And what's not to love? "Brisk, sparkling" (Entertainment Weekly), "marvelously acted" (Time) and featuring "as terrific an ensemble as we've seen" (The San Francisco Examiner), this Golden Globe-nominated* adaptation of Dickens' masterpiece is a timeless romantic adventure you'll treasure for years!

When the Nickleby family is betrayed in their hour of need, young Nicholas (Charlie Hunnam) must save the day. Join him on a remarkable journey that critics unanimously praise as "a joy to watch" (Leonard Maltin)!

Looking over the above list... I never seen the Neverending Stories movies before either. Is that one that I want to watch the first part before watching part 2? If so I will have to pick it up before watching this one.

I think it would be better if you watched the first movie before Neverending Story II.  The second movie does refer back to things from the first at times.  There is more of a connection than with some sequels.

Getting a couple more movies from another friend of mine...

Resident Evil: Afterlife
After a one-woman assault on the Umbrella Corporation's fortress, Alice's (Milla Jovovich) superhuman abilities are neutralized. Now, fleeing the Undead masses created by the T-virus, Alice reunites with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and her brother, Chris (Wentworth Miller). Together they take refuge with other survivors in an abandoned prison, where a savage zombie mob stands between them and the safety of "Arcadia." Escaping these bloodthirsty mutants will take an arsenal. But facing off with Albert Wesker and the Umbrella Corporation will take the fight for survival to a new level of danger.
Armageddon
Bruce Willis and an all-star cast of roughneck oil drillers blast off on a mission to save the planet in Michael Bay's doomsday space epic.

Can anyone here tell me? How is the Criterion release of Armageddon? I have the original release... so this one is an upgrade.
