Well... the very kind soul that is sending both Brittany and I some DVDs had some room left in the box(es). So these have been added to what she is sending....

The Deep End
Still waters run deadly in this gripping suspense thriller about the extraordinary depths to which seemingly ordinary people will sink in the name of love.

Tilda Swinton "is magnificent" (The New York Times) as housewife Margaret Hall, a fiercely protective mother caught in a vortex of deception when it appears that her son may be guilty of murder. One desperate act leads to another, and soon she's being blackmailed by the mysterious Alek Spera (E.R.'s Goran Visnjic). But what begins as a riveting cat-and-mouse game between them soon evolves into a haunting romance.

Immersed in the tradition of Hitchcock's best twists and turns, The Deep End "holds its suspense to the very last drop" (The Toronto Star).
Bring Me the Vampire
In a tale of who’s right & who’s wrong; Of who’s alive & who’s dead - There can be only one solution found…Money.

Money motivates ordinary people to do unordinary things. Travel with the potential beneficiaries as they try to discover who is the rightful heir to the McDermott fortune.

After all, It is only 48 hours…..
Closer
A witty, romantic, and very dangerous love story about chance meetings, instant attractions, and casual betrayals. CLOSER is director Mike Nichols' critically acclaimed look at four strangers – Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen – with one thing in common: each other. Adapted by Patrick Marber from his award-winning stage play.
Ravenous
It's a recipe for nonstop action and excitement when the inhabitants of an isolated military outpost go up against a marauding band of cannibals in a deadly struggle for survival!

Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential), Robert Carlyle (Trainspotting) and David Arquette (Scream) must fight brutal elements of the Sierra Nevada wilderness — as well as their own murderous instincts — in the year's most thrilling adventure, filled with "over-the-top energy, gore and style!" (LOS ANGELES WEEKLY)
BMX Bandits
Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs (Nicole Kidman) become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies.
Double Jeopardy
The chase is on! Ashley Judd shines in this unstoppable, untoppable box-office smash that co-stars Tommy Lee Jones in his "best performance since The Fugitive."*

Judd plays Libby Parsons, who discovers that the husband she's convicted of murdering staged his own "death" and framed her for the crime. Released on parole, she skips town to find him - and that puts parole officer Travis Lehman (Jones) on her trail. Packed with more crowd-pleasing excitement than several movies put together, Double Jeopardy delivers "lots of action and spine-tingling suspense from start to finish."**

* Mick LaSalle, The San Francisco Chronicle
** Bill Diehl, ABC Radio Network
The Rookie
From the studio that brought you Remember the Titans comes an inspirational film based on a true story. Jim Morris (Dennis Quaid), father, teacher, and high school coach, though his dream was over. He'd had his shot playing baseball, blew out his shoulder, and retired without ever making it to the big leagues. Then, in 1999, Coach Morris made a fateful bet with his perpetually losing team. If they won the district championship, Morris — who threw a 98 mph fastball — would try out for the majors. The team went from worst to first, and Jim, living up to his end of the bargain, threw caution to the wind and was on the road to becoming the oldest rookie in the major leagues. This heartfelt, uplifting story about not giving up on your dreams is a remarkable and affecting story that will have everyone cheering.
The Osbournes: The First Season
The Cleavers, The Bradys, The Cosbys And Now... The Osbournes!

Heavy Metal legend Ozzy Osbourne invites you into his home, and every outrageous moment with the notorious rocker and his colourful family is captured here in MTV's highest-rated show THE OSBOURNES - THE FIRST SEASON! There's no script, the situations are real, the family is completely normal... well, as normal as they can be considering that dear ol' dad is the self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness! Along with every wild episode from the record-breaking first season, this must-have DVD collection includes exclusive, never-before-seen footage! Here's your chance to relive the fun of each episode while seeing what went on behind the scenes and hearing what the censors wouldn't allow on MTV!
Cold Creek Manor
Cold Creek Manor is the heart-pounding thriller that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat in tension-filled suspense. Wanting to escape city life for the saner, safer countryside, New Yorkers Cooper Tilson (Dennis Quaid), his wife Leah (Golden Globe winner* Sharon Stone) and their two children move into a dilatpidated old mansion still filled with the possessions of the previous family. Turning it into their dream house soon becomes a living nightmare when the previous owner (Stephen Dorff) shows up, and a series of terrifying incidents lead them on a spine-tingling search for clues to the estate's dark and lurid past.

*Actress In A Leading Role – Drama, Casino, 1995.
Cold Mountain
Nicole Kidman (Academy Award® winner – Best Actress, The Hours, 2002) stars with Academy Award® winner Renée Zellweger (Best Supporting Actress, Cold Mountain, 2003) and Academy Award® nominee Jude Law (Best Actor, Cold Mountain). At the dawn of the Civil War, the men of Cold Mountain, North Carolina, rush to join the Confederate army. Ada (Kidman) has vowed to wait for Inman (Law), but as the war drags on and letters go unanswered, she must find the will to survive. At war's end, hearts will be dashed, dreams fulfilled and the strength of the human spirit tested...but not broken! Directed by Academy Award® winner Anthony Minghella (The English Patient, 1996).
Knockaround Guys
When you're in the mob, there's no room for mistakes or feelings. Matty (Barry Pepper) finds this out the hard way when his crew loses a bag of cash in a remote town in the midwest while trying to live up to his mob boss father's aspirations (Dennis Hopper). When Matty's childhood friend Marbles (Seth Green) fails to retrieve the money, his best friend Taylor (Vin Diesel) hatches a plan to get it back, but crooked cops control the town and the situation quickly spirals out of control.

Uncle Teddy (John Malkovich) rolls into town to fix the situation and to teach Matty once and for all what being "in the family" is all about. The trap is set and when it's sprung, it's as action-packed as it is devastating.

How awesome is that!?!? I got to say once again... I can't get over the generousity I have seen here lately! Wow! And once again to everyone (here) that sent me DVDs lately I really appreciate it!

 :thanks:
Pete

Interestingly, I was thinking of getting Closer...I came across it yesterday when I was looking for more movies starring either Julia Roberts or Jodie Foster to get.  I had Cold Mountain once but gave it away as a prize in my annual Oscar contest before I had a chance to watch it.  I have seen The Rookie and I enjoy that.

I almost got Closer tonight..the one store in the mall here has some DVDs for $1.97 and $2.97.  Closer was $1.97, so I almost got it.  I seem to remember reading some negative reviews though..so I didn't get it.

Closer is very much a play that happens to have been filmed. It's really just characters talking. In it's own way, it's very good and some of the dialogue is superb, but still... it's a play, not a film.

OK... I got myself another bit of a surprise a little bit ago. The very kind soul that is sending both Brittany and I movies PM'ed me again. And as it turns out... she couldn't quite fit all the titles in the 2 boxes she just mailed out today. So she said Knowing I couldn't watch horror she left those out for now... plus a couple other titles... then ... and I quote...

"I left these out until I get enough for one more box."

So I know to expect more titles to be announced within the upcoming days/weeks. I imagine before/around my horror marathon.

Well... it didn't take days/weeks to find out the rest (last) of the DVDs my friend is sending me. I already got a PM with the list... she is now sending me...

Dead & Breakfast
Six friends on a road trip gone wrong. A sleepy, creepy Texas town. A sinister inn with murder on the menu. And an army of the undead who can only be stopped by decapitation or chainsaw. If you think you've seen it all before, you're DEAD wrong! Erik Palladino (ER, U-571), Ever Carradine (ONCE AND AGAIN), Jeremy Sisto (WRONG TURN, SIX FEET UNDER) and Gina Phillips (JEEPERS CREEPERS) star in the action-packed, blood-drenched horror/comedy that takes the genre to outrageous new extremes!

Diedrich Bader (THE DREW CAREY SHOW), Portia de Rossi (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT) and David Carradine (KILL BILL) co-star in this acclaimed independent hit that Fangoria Magazine calls "slapstick and horrifying...a mix of ghouls, giggles and gore!"
Don Knotts: Reluctant Hero Pack
He's one of the most popular and admired funnymen of all time, a master of comic timing and physical humor. Now four of the classic films starring the delightful Don Knotts are available on DVD for the first time in this fun-filled collector's set.

After catapulting to national fame as the often impossible but ever lovable Deputy Barney Fife on TV's The Andy Griffith Show, Knotts set out to conquer the silver screen in a series of unforgettable feature films. Now four of these hilarious farces are brought together in this amazing collection that keep the laughs coming.

Includes:
THE GHOST AND MR. CHICKEN
THE RELUCTANT ASTRONAUT
THE SHAKIEST GUN IN THE WEST
THE LOVE GOD?
Cry_Wolf
When the students at a prestigious prep school spread a hoax email about a serial killer, they start a game of terror and deception that has three rules: avoid suspicion, lie to your friends, and eliminate your enemies. But what starts as a joke soon turns deadly and now they find themselves victims of their own game!
Dogville
Grace (Nicole Kidman) arrives in the isolated town of Dogville, on the run from gangsters. The townspeople agree to hide her. However, when outsiders start looking for the fugitive, the locals make demands of Grace in exchange for the risk of harboring her. But Grace has a secret and it is a dangerous one. Dogville may regret it ever decided to bare its teeth...
Death Machine
The year is 2003. Chaank Industries, ruthless world leaders in future weapons technology, hires a new chief executive, Hayden Cale. Cale soon uncovers a secret and unethical weapons project the company is involved in and her first order of business is to shut it down. Her troubles begin just as she also tries to fire the company's technological mastermind, Jack Donte - a childlike psychotic with a dark genius for exotic weapons design. Donte retaliates by unleashing into the corporate headquarters the Death Machine, the ultimate killing unit! A weapon that tracks its target by sensing fear and has the power to rip through walls with its hard steel strength and razor teeth. Joined by two unlikely allies, Cale must wage a desperate bloody battle with the terrifying force that has no mercy, no pity and no fear.
Decoys
Some students aren't exactly what they seem to be in DECOYS, a sci-fi/horror adventure starring Kim Poirier (Dawn of the Dead), Richard Burgi (Starship Troopers 2), Corey Sevier (TV's "North Shore") and Nicole Eggert (TV's "Baywatch").

If college coeds Lily and Constance look like two out-of-this-world blonde beauties, that's because they're actually intergalactic space invaders with a mission: to breed with humans before taking over the Earth. And even though the girls' mating skills have proven fatal to their victims, they keep on trying. So when Luke, a hard-partying freshman, accidentally witnesses the shapely shape-shifters in their full-bodied alien state, he knows it's up to him to save the planet before he truly gets wasted.
Dolores Claiborne
Selena St. George stares at the note and news clipping: her estranged mother Dolores has been accused of murder. Grudgingly, Selena returns to her tiny Maine hometown to offer help. Not that she believes Dolores is innocent. In truth, she harbors suspicions going back 20 years. Kathy Bates, who won a Best Actress Oscar® for Misery,† scores in another Stephen King story (directed by Taylor Hackford) as tough-talking Dolores Claiborne. Jennifer Jason Leigh is wrenching as embittered  Selena. The two circle warily, piecing together past and present, memory and fact, to reveal the startling truth behind two mysterious deaths.

†1990
City by the Sea
Vincent LaMarca's job is to arrest killers, but this job is different. The suspect he is tracking is his own son. As a cop, LaMarca must bring the accused to justice. As a father, he must find a way to save his son.

True events inspired this compelling police thriller starring award winning actors Robert De Niro, Frances McDormand and James Franco. De Niro memorably plays LaMarca, burdened by tragedy and his failings as a father...and now putting his life on the line to do right by his family and profession. "De Niro has been showing us great stuff for 30 years now, but in this movie he shows us something new," the San Francisco's Chronicle's Mick LaSalle wrote. Put another way: a great actor redefines his greatness in City by the Sea.
Dark Heritage: The Final Descendant
An uncredited adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Lurking Fear." After a violent thunderstorm, mutilated bodies are found at a Louisiana camp ground. Investigative reporter Clint Harrison uncovers a dark local legend about the reclusive Dansen clan, who may be connected with the murders. Determined to dig up the truth, Clint and his buddies decide to spend a story night at the seemingly abandoned Dansen mansion...
Eternal Evil
A dissatisfied Montreal director of TV commercials is taught to astrally project himself by a mysterious woman. But he soon learns that he does this during sleep and against his will, committing savage acts on people in his life.
Dexter: The Second Season
DEXTER is back! The critically acclaimed and groundbreaking original series from SHOWTIME starring Michael C. Hall, returns on DVD with all 12 riveting and chilling episodes in DEXTER — THE SECOND SEASON. Although committed to carrying out his twisted brand of vigilante justice - Dexter begins to doubt his murderous capabilities and continues to be haunted by his tortured past. Dark Water
Far more terrifying than what was seen in theaters, this special unrated version of Dark Water is a thoroughly absorbing, suspense-filled thriller starring Jennifer Connelly. Dahlia Williams (Connelly) and her five-year-old daughter are ready to begin a new life together. But their new apartment — dilapidated and worn — suddenly seems to take on a life of its own. Mysterious noises, persistent leaks of dark water and other strange happenings in the deserted apartment above send Dahlia on a haunting and mystifying pursuit — one that unleashes a torrent of living nightmares.
Darkness
This extended unrated version of the hit thriller Darkness  teams award winner Anna Paquin (X-Men ) with Lena Olin (Hollywood Homicide, Chocolat)  and Iain Glen (Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) as a family whose life forever changes when they move into a new home with an ancient secret!  Not long after Regina (Paquin) begins living in her family's remote country estate, she learns that there's something horribly disturbing about the old place.  Even as her parents dismiss her concerns, strange things begin to happen whenever the lights go out.  Soon Regina realizes that a series of escalating supernatural events will unleash the full evil that resides in their house...and once it's released you'll experience it like never before in this scarier, more shocking unrated version!
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media present C.S. Lewis' timeless and beloved adventure. Once there, the children discover a charming, once peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has been turned into a world of eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Aided by the wise and magnificent lion Aslan, the children lead Narnia into a spectacular, climactic battle to be free of the Witch's glacial powers forever!
Critters
It's no picnic for the Brown family when a lethal litter of carnivorous aliens arrives unannounced at their Kansas farm. Trapped in a deadly nightmare, the terrified Browns fight for their lives against the attacking bloodthirsty monsters. But it's a losing battle until two intergalactic bounty hunters arrive, determined to blow the hellish creatures off the planet! It's an alien adventure, full of action and just crawling with CRITTERS!
Death Bed
Karen and her boyfriend Jerry rent a new warehouse conversion and accidentally discover a hidden brass bed. Karen, a successful illustrator of children's books, so loves the bed's singular design that she makes it the shining centerpiece of her new home and uses it to inspire her designs. But the bed soon gives inspiration of a different kind. Old memories from a frightful childhood mingle with new nightmares, all seemingly released by sleeping in the long hidden bed. The terrors invade her working life; they decay her loving relationship to Jerry with dark fantasies and scar her artwork. Karen thinks a malevolent spirit has been awakened and it's changing her - she begins seeing things, and she thinks the things are seeing her. Since finding the bed, the frights of the past no longer sleep...

Woohoo! There is lots of horror coming my way!  :yahoo: And lots of titles that I never seen before.

Surprisingly I never seen the Stephen King movie Delores Claibourne before! Reading the plot I can't be sure... is that considered a horror movie?

And wow! I can't believe Dexter: Season 2 is being given to me!

I am so looking forward to hearing what you think of Dogville! It isn't a horror, so spin it up as soon as possible.

What genre would I put it in? Gangster, maybe. Drama, perhaps. Pretentious Arty Crap? Yeah, that's the one. Pretentious Arty Crap.

Those are bad movies though, Pete, that you find something good in. This film is intellectual and arty. Too bloody clever for its own good! If you manage to watch all of it and like it, I'll... I'll... do something. I don't know what.  ;)
