OK... I realize there isn't that many here that is into horror as much as I am. But I need to ask. For this weekend's movie marathon I was thinking of having a Gore-Fest. The only problem is I never thought of this before so I do not have a sub-genre or tag for gory movies in my collection. So I need to pick out the gore movies in my collection. Only problem is my memory not as good as it should be... and all I am coming up with is the Saw movies and the Hostel movies. I know some of the Masters of Horror episodes are filled with gore as well... but I was really hoping to stick with movies here....

So what is some of the goriest movies you remember watching... maybe I have it in my collection to add to the list. I do have about 600 horror movies in my collection now.

I can see you have Day of the Dead, which is one of the goriest I've seen, Dawn less so, but still a contender. Zombie, too of course. American Werewolf, I suppose, but you're missing Re-Animator and should be ashamed! You have the Evil Dead films, but no Brain Dead which I have only seen bits of, but yes, it's gory...

Planet Terror, From Dusk Till Dawn have their moments, so I think you have enough to avoid watching the Saw films. Everyone should avoid them, though it's going ot get more difficult now that three more are promised (that would be eight!)

I been meaning to add  Re-Animator to my list for a long time now. Some reason I keep forgetting it when the time comes. I will have to try to remember it for my October marathon!

It has been years since I watched my copy of Zombie... couldn't remember how gory it is so may have to watch it again.

Are you talking about the 1992 Brain Dead or the 1990 or the 2007 movies by the same title? If you do indeed mean THIS ONE I do have it in my collection under the alternate title of Dead Alive.

I didn't even think of the Evil Dead movies or many of the zombie movies out there.

I see sequels Hellraiser III (acceptable) and beyond but not the first two? They'd definitely fit your marathon...

I agree with Dawn/Day of the Dead being rather gory and Braindead (a.k.a. Dead Alive) being very gory.

Re-Animator is highly recommended form me as well. Part 2 (Bride of re-Animator) is excellent as well and part 3 (Beyond Re-Animator) is still better than most other genre films. Talking of Re-Animator... From Beyond comes to mind.

I'm not into horror/gore movies, but as it happens, I just read a review about Lucio Fulci's Cat in the Brain, which is gore with a meta level. It sounded at least somewhat interesting to me. Btw, the reviewer is draven99, whom I remember from the Intervocative forum days.

This has nothing to do with gore... but I didn't see starting a new thread for it.

I never seen any version of King Kong. I have seen some people say it is horror and others say it is not. What is your opinion on the matter? Is King Kong horror? should it be added to my horror list?

about Donnie Darko... If I remember right I put that there before seeing the movie... since I had heard it was horror. After watching it I found it to be little more then just confusing... somehow I must have forgotten to take it off the list after watching it. Thanks for the heads up.

And I have the first Hellraisers... should be on that list.  Just looked at the list... it is under Hellraiser 3 for some reason. I do still need to get part 2 though.

What is your opinion on the matter? Is King Kong horror?

I wouldn't count it as horror. But I can see why people could. Would you count Jurassic Park as horror? If yes, then King Kong is definately horror as well.
