I would consider getting one, but only a really small one somewhere far away from my wrist.

you really have a fixation with wrists ;)

I know :(. Believe it or not I'm actually better now than I was a few years back. When I was about 9 or 10 I developed a fear of veins which then led to a fear of the underside of peoples wrists (where you can see the veins, I'm okay with the tops of wrists).
I freaked out if someone touched my wrist, I didn't like touching my own wrist and if I ever saw someone leaning on their hand so their wrist was poking out and you could see their veins I felt sick.
I am better now though, I'm cool with people touching my wrists (although I still try to avoid looking if someone is leaning on it). The thought of getting a tattoo though in that area... anything to do with needles and wrists is enough to make me feel light-headed.

Interestingly enough I just found this website where a load of people are describing the exact same fear as this.

At least I know there are others now haha, I thought I was crazy for a while.

Oh I've seen some very weird phobias.

I had a girlfriend that had a completely inexplicable fear of cats. There was no reason for it. As far as she remembered, she was never attacked or otherwise threatened by a cat. Her parents couldn't remember any incident involving a cat either. She had just been afraid of cats forever.

I have an almost irrational fear of crowds. When I'm in a room with more than 5-6 people I do not know and trust, I will sit on a chair with my back to the wall whenever possible. If sitting with my back to the wall isn't possible, I will constantly stay aware of what's going on all around, so I'll constantly check behind my back to know who's there, what's going on, etc.

And to bring this thread somewhat back on topic: lovemunkey, while I did mention before that I'm not a fan of tattoos in general, these are nice! Simple and clean. Good choice!

That's how I am! Except I've never considered it a fear, just a method of control. I know I get some of it from my Dad, who could be very charismatic and a natural leader. But in a new crowd of strangers, he'd stay quiet and observe. He was an excellent judge of character and it was just down to not being a show off most of time.

I don't think I have any irrational fears, but I do have a weird thing about broken glass. If I hear it smash or have to sweep it up, my hands itch, as if I'd been grazed. Weirdly, I've now found the same thing with wasps. We have a nest in the loft and the little buggers keep getting in to the bathroom. I've just sealed up where I think they were getting in, but the other day after spraying insecticide, we had to sweep up dozens of them. And my hands itched again, giving me a sense of being stung. But I'm definitely not frightened of them and have no qualms about clearing them up, so I have no idea...

I consider it a fear because as the crowd gets bigger, I start feeling queasy, I get cold sweat. I've even started hyperventilating and a sort of panic attack at times. I've even lost consciousness once. So please, don't force me into a crowd!

Wanna hear something funny though? I still haven't found a thrill quite as exhilarating as being a soloist on stage in front of hundreds of people. Go figure. Probably a mix of my fear of crowds, working against my love of music, while knowing there's nobody that I don't know behind me. Or something like that..

It's a deal, I promise I won't force you into a crowd as long as you don't put me near wrists :P

Ahh Kathy no! So scary :P. I wouldn't be able to cope with that, at a school gym class once we were supposed to take out pulse on our wrist and I just couldn't do it. Totally freaked out and the teacher had no idea why.

Ah okay Ross, so it's not one of those fears that travels onto the screen. I feel uneasy watching scenes with wrists a prominent feature hard sometimes. Especially this one scene in Kill Bill when Uma Thurman's character is in hospital and there this long shot that goes right up her arm. I always have to look away when watching that.
