I suppose the guilty part is not that I watch it, but that I can't help but watch it. ???

Every time there is something on by Marvel, especially Spider-Man, I can't stop myself from watching!! It's just too good! :o

I would hardly consider Chicago a guilty pleasure. I mean the film did win 6 Oscars.

Walk Hard
White Chicks
The Ringer
Kicking and Screaming

For these?

Yes. You should be ashamed.

UNtil I saw The Ringer listed here I had pretty much managed to wipe away the memory of seeing that film and now it's all come crashing back. :redcard:

I still don't understand this thread!  Emma, why would you be embarrased about Zack and Miri? Karsten's already pointed out Chasing Amy, but if a film entertains you it doesn't matter how many times you see it.

I've watched Ferris Bueller more times than is healthy, but I don't give a damn. I'd watch it right now if it came on!

...It may have won Oscars... how ever most people who actually like the stage version hate it.. and Id be hard pressed naming friends I know (that aren't big drama people) who actually like it... I honestly don't think the Oscars prove anything anyway... most films that are nominated are from a certain period during the year.

...There is just something kind of sweet about the film that I love.  :-[

Chasing Amy is anything but a Guilty Pleasure. ;)

...Again, Id be hard pressed finding anyone who liked this film. (around me)

...True... However try telling your parents your favourite film is Zack and Miri make a Porno  ;) ... as with Chicago and Chasing Amy.... I have not met many people who enjoyed this film.. most think it was to sexual.... my argument is, they were making a porn movie ¬_¬... of course, it had alot of bad press... im sure that didn't help... alot of KS fans around here call it "the film that killed his career"

... Unfortunately, when you are in a class with some of the pretentious uhh... people in my class its hard to admit you even like things like Annie Hall or even Boogie Nights.

Hahaha, "Oh Emma, You DON'T like that movie?... But its so terribly written" "Oh Emma, Don't say that, the animation is so poor in that film, *sigh* you just don't understand what it takes to make a good animated film"

Am I right?

:) My friend, you summed it up perfectly.

..You Also forgot "Gladiator won so many oscars!! How can you not like it?"

...Uhh, not a big fan of the uhh, Roman soldier kind of thing

"EMMA! It won Oscars because it was amazingly good! I suppose you like those crappy Oscar winners like Annie Hall"

..Uhh yep

...Anyway, back to the thread. ( ;) as you can see, we have a large troll on our course)

I love winding people up like that. I can be as pretentious a ponce as the next person, but the look on their face is priceless when I can move from discussing something deep and philosophical to a fart gag in Austin powers! I remember one guy telling me that anything that wasn't black & white was just awful... I won't tell you what I said to him, but I think I hurt his feelings.

Chasing Amy is anything but a Guilty Pleasure. ;)

I think you live in a weird alternate dimension! It's a fine film and might still be Smith's most accessible. He got a lot of love for that and still does.

Ahh, so there is the guilt! ;) I never had that problem with my mum and dad. In fact, I meant to pick out American Pie 3. It is fundamentally rubbish, but it could also be the funniest and it's the only one my mum has seen and she quite likes it (apart from Stifler hiding the ring!). She recognises I can also like old subtitled foreign muck, so has long given up on an opinion of what I should and shouldn't like. Maybe if she was more into film, she'd be aghast, but then she loves Steven Seagal movies, so if anyone needs to feel guilty, it's her! Still if I said that, she'd tell me to bollo... :-X

It fascinates me how over analysed Smith's films are. If Jersey Girl didn't kill his career, nothing will! Zack and Miri is just a fun movie and I've found is especially popular amongst people who have no idea who Kevin Smith is.

His Tweets about Cop Out are especially revealing. It's obvious he's predicatbly proud of it, but his so called fans even panic over his name missing from the poster... except, he has never put his name on any of his posters like that.

Oh yeah, meant to say, I don't like Annie Hall, but it demands respect. I'm sorry, but this troll needs an arse kicking.

True, although im worried about Cop Out. Have you seen the trailer Jon? :S I think its because I feel that Tracey Jordan is playing his character Tracy Morgan from 30 rock... of course... that character is infact a caricature of himself so thats kinda bad.

I actually love Jersey Girl, maybe that should be on the list... I like all of Kevin Smiths movies... I think Cop Out will be the one I don't like.. but who knows ill watch it before I go any further :)

The with Zack and Miri and my parents is more.. My parents aren't really into films, and a film that has "porno" in the title is asking for trouble  :P they wouldn't get it... heck, my dad hasn't watched a film in years and my mum only watches them if I say "You will like this"

I have seen the trailer and it seems to have some of the Beverley Hills Cop vibe he said he wanted, so I think it'll be ok. This is Smith's first film based on something he didn't write, which both lowers my expectations and makes me more interested to see it, if that makes any sense! Plus there is a picture in Empire of Morgan dressed as a phone. It's nuts enough for me to like it!

Morgan is definitely the wild-card for me. I like him in 30 Rock but don't know if he can take the lead, albeit with Willis. Still, that knock-knock gag is good... ;D

My parents know that my 2 favorites films are The Opening of Misty Beethoven and Through the Looking Glass and they are adult movies :tease:
My father think it's just too bad that the film aren't in french since he saw them dubbed in a real theatre and he would like to see them again. Sadly he doesn't speak english at all...

By the way Steven Morowitz had confirmed me yesterday that Through the Looking Glass will be release in a Platinum edition later this year :celebrate:
