Quote
Dollhouse is an American science fiction television program created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly) and set to premiere February 13, 2009 on Fox.

In Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku (Faith in Buffy) plays a young woman called Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls." The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They're then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

I have mixed feelings about this. First, the pilot got replaced (some fans promptly titled the new one The Brain Job  :hysterical: ), then more and more stories leaked about creative differences between Whedon and Fox, then production got halted, etc.

I also wondered why Joss returned to Fox after they killed Angel and Firefly.

Eliza Dushku had a development deal with Fox for a new show.  She wanted Whedon involved, so he came up with the show for her.

Even though I await this new series, I still would have prefered to see a "Faith" series  ;D

That would have been really nice.
I had heard a few years ago that Whedon was doing a show called Ripper focused on Giles in England..no clue if that is still a possibility or not.  I'd love it if it was.

"Ripper" is one of those things that I can't decide whether it would be good refreshing idea OR that too much water has passed under the bridge for it have much success beyond completists of the Buffyverse.

As much as I loved both Buffy and Angel the idea of Ripper really never did appeal to me all that much.

I watched Dollhouse last night.  I liked it.  I think there could be a lot of potential there.  I just hope FOX gives it the time to develop an audience.

I have just watched the pilot. The basic concept somehow reminded me of Quantum Leap. You jump into another persona and fix something.

I wasn't too overly thrilled about the pilot but being an admirer of Joss's works I think it will develop if Fox gives it a chance and I will give it chance, too.
