That's pretty much it, Karsten, but when you watch the full story, it just gets stranger.
The cameras followed Sabina in custody. She exhibited no signs of mental illness at all. In fact, it's really creepy watching her, because not only is she laid back, but also flirty and witty. She's assessed by several people who haven't seen the motorway footage and declare she's ok. She goes to court and the judge sentences her to a day in custody, already served. She's released and gets talking to two random men who enquired if she was ok, as she looked lost. One of the men, a 54 year old, offered to help her find her sister.
Now you could easily read into that. Lonely old man... Swedish blonde... it's like a joke, but the program showed he was genuine and simply helpful. She killed him suddenly and without warning the next day.
She ran off with the mallet and a roof tile and as Karsten says, was seen bashing herself in the head. A random car driver stopped and wrestled the hammer from her and she hit him in the head with the roof tile! She was then chased by paramedics until she jumped off a 40ft bridge, breaking both ankles.
In court, she was once again showing no signs of mental illness, so the case was tough. Defence and Prosecution both came up with different but equally rare explanations for her illness (fascinating stuff!), but the law prevented the judge from giving her a hospital or unlimited sentence. She was fit to stand trial, so she was fit to serve a fixed sentence.
Sadly, once again justice is let down by a lack of common sense. Her sister Ursula was never examined and is likely just as nuts as she is. The nature of either diagnosis means it could happen again, but she'll be free of supervision (the judge was especially frustrated by that). Someone should have stepped in and said, screw the law, we know what happened. That poor mans family have to live with his death. To be honest, they're letting Sabina down as well. She is clearly ill.
The two diagnosis, which will likely interest Kathy, are commonly known by French terms, but I at least remember the descriptions!
Puff of Madness: An episode of insanity that can come and go very suddenly, but lasts for a relatively short term.
Madness of Two People: This is weird, but most likely. It suggests a person can be "infected" by madness from another person they are close to. So identical twins are good subjects as the boundaries of their personalities blur anyway.
My personal view is that they were superhuman clones from a corrupt genetic experiment. Probably ran by a company called Skynet... Ok, I'm being silly, but this story is so crazy, if someone proved it, it wouldn't surprise me.
Antares, our police do have tasers, but I'm sure there are strict rules about using them. That was a very unusual situation. A medium build blonde girl, unarmed, who has just been walloped by a car and should by rights be dead, is facing off against several bemused coppers who don't know how injured or not she is.
