Gaaahhh so much for customer service.

Finally managed to get through to the person looking into this. Despite me saying to the original person I spoke to yesterday that I was in all day, they once again said it seems you weren't in. Then they tell me they haven't sent it out from their depot today, despite me saying that I wanted them to do so to that original person. When I asked why they said they wouldn't know unless they spoke to the depot, but perhaps the driver needed a contact number, so why didn't they pass it on yesterday?  :slaphead:

Of course they can't send it out today as all the drivers leave the depot at 8 and they have no drivers available. I'm more than welcome to drive the 90+ mile (154KM and 2hrs if the traffic is good, it's never good on those roads) round trip to pick it up and they'll reimburse my petrol costs.

So as they don't work weekends they will deliver it on Monday.

I'm off to shoot some aliens in the head courtesy of Half-Life 2.

 :voodoo: :voodoo: :voodoo: at Fedex.

You can get good service, depending on what is in your parcel. I had a typical "while you were out" card with second attempt due the following day. Knowing what it was, I rang them and asked them to take it to my neighbour. No problem I was told. BTW, I didn't tell them what was in it...

Second day, second "While you were out". My elderly neighbour had never left the house and stated no attempt had been made. I rang them and asked if they could manage to deliver it to my local Post Office, or would that be too difficult for the trained monkeys to understand? I was assured not.

Oh well. Third day (a Friday). My local Post Office has no idea what I'm talking about, so I get on the phone. A very can't-be-bothered jobsworth says it's been delivered. Where? They don't know. She says sorry, but doesn't mean it, and apparently tried to contact the driver. She can't and asks me to ring back in the morning and catch him before he finishes his round.

Fourth day. Deep breath. I ring first thing. Driver is on his break. I ask for a call back, which of course they promise. An hour later, no call, so I try again to be told I'd missed him and could I call back Monday. Oh my... my poor head!

"No", I tell her, "I will not call back. Instead, you -not me- are going to call him NOW. If I do not get an adequate response in the next 15 minutes telling me exactly where this parcel is, I will report it to the Police."

"That's a bit strong", she says. "Oh no it isn't. Because I know what is in this parcel that you don't give a shit about. Trust me, it cannot stay missing."

"May I ask what is in the parcel?", she asks.

"A 42 inch Samurai sword. Obviously I do not want to hear of some chab holding up the Co-Op with it. Do you, sweetheart? Didn't think so."

Well! She called me back in less than 3 minutes after contacting the so hard to get hold of Mr. Driver. He'd taken it to the wrong blasted Post Office...

Wow  :o

Thankfully they won't be able to do any damage with what's in my parcel as it's only dvds. Sadly that means I can't spur them on in the same way you did.

I'm waiting with baited breath to see if they do actually ring me as promised on Monday to confirm it's on its way to me.

Yes and unfortunately (or not!), I'm not in the habit of buying swords plural, so I only got to use the excuse once! But I was deadly serious. That Saturday morning, I was hit with the enormity of no-one seemingly having any idea where a very dangerous (albeit impressively beautiful) weapon was. I'd rather have a policeman find it and destroy, rather than the before-mentioned Chav destroy the local high street.

My favourite story about Parcel Farce was from a collector of African art. He travelled thousands of miles into Africa, to some remote village and procured a large piece of art. It was packaged and transported back across those thousands of miles of rough track that pass for roads; it was transported by some third-rate airline back into the UK where it was verified as in perfect condition; it was passed to our favourite couriers who had to take it a few miles up a perfectly smooth motorway to the collectors house, where it was unpackaged and found to be shattered and worthless...

And yet again no sign of the package by midday, so I call at 12 and am told "they definitely agreed with the depot it would go out today, but they don't have access to the scans at the moment, so will check with the depot and call back in 10 minutes".

1.25 I call them back to be told "I do have your file in front of me, unfortunately the systems are down in the depot and they can't track the package". How this affects the 'before midday' delivery I don't know nor do I understand why they didn't ring me and tell me this, it's called managing your customers expectations. "But they are aware I'm only available today to accept the package and they assure me I will get the package today".

I've never said that to them and in fact I'm using up holiday, so have the whole of this week off. I didn't tell them that as I wanted to see if I really did get it and quite frankly don't want to spend the rest of the week waiting in for them to maybe actually bother to do the job they've been paid to do.

This is going to be one of the very rare occasions where I actually send a complaint letter because they clearly need to revisit their customer service program. Not that I really expect it to make any difference. One things for sure I'm back to smaller orders through the post, at least they let you know when they're not going to deliver your parcel as they're going on strike.  ;)

EDIT

 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Well it seems somebody is a lying so and so. They rang me back and the courier has claimed they spoke to somebody on this contact number and was told nobody would be available to accept the parcel until the 15th  :o

What about contacting the place where you bought the DVDs from and letting them know? If they get enough complaints and they put some pressure on the shipping company it may do some good. I agree your one letter may not do much.

Honestly couldn't imagine this happening here. I have had some troubles with my mail carrier, but only if my car is blocking the mail box  ::) FedEx & UPS (don't use DHL much since they changed from Airborne) are always reliable.

Sorry you're having such trouble. It takes all the fun out of getting your DVDs.

Funny you should say that Rick, I did send an email along those lines to Xploitedcinema after my post here, as that rant allowed me time to calm down and get the facts straight so I could send them a polite email.

I have to say they are the total opposite of Fedex in the customer service department. Literally within about 10 minutes of me sending the email they responded apologising for the problems I was having and, surprisingly, offering me a $70 credit (the Fedex cost) off my next order.

So xploitedcinema get a big   :thanks: and   from me.

Short answer is a lot  :P

Long answer is I love weird horror films and funny packaging

THE SERPENT'S TALE [liMITED EDITION]
ROBOCOP - THE COMPLETE TV SERIES [6 DVD BOX SET]
GRAVEDANCERS [2 DVD STEELBOOK] (Mike Mendez)
GARDEN OF LOVE (UNCUT 3D COVER STEELBOOK EDITION)
CEMETERY WITHOUT CROSSES [ANOLIS LIMITED EDITION RELEASE]
NIGHTMARE DETECTIVE
NUDE FOR SATAN
NIGHT OF THE SORCERERS [Amando de Ossorio]
TOXIC ZOMBIES
SODOMA'S GHOST (Lucio Fulci) [NTSC REGION 0 RELEASE]
DIE ZOMBIEJAGER
CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD (Uncut AWE Release)
THE MAD [UNRATED]
THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN
THE IRON ROSE [JEAN ROLLIN]
PERFECT CREATURE [2 DVD STEELBOOK SPECIAL EDITION]
LAST HOUSE ON THE BEACH [PAL REGION 2 SPECIAL EDITION]
THE STONE FLOWER [Aleksandr Ptushko]
FORBIDDEN WORLD [liMITED EDITION]
Evil (To Kako)
GOKE - BODYSNATCHER FROM HELL [liMITED EDITION]
NIGHT OF THE DEMONS

You can see synopses for these in my online collection, but what you'll also notice is the titles are often different as the site I order from translates the titles to English and I've copied and pasted from my order there. I number by date I receive them so these are at the top of my collection.

The line in The Incredible Melting Man synopsis cracked me up: "There is much to recommend The Incredible Melting Man, not the least being a range and caliber of acting normally only found in the porn industry."
I love Rick Baker so this movie's bound to be good!

I'd love it if you would let us know what you think of the movies.

I wonder...who else orders films based on the packaging?

I'll post a small review thread in the movie review section and add to it as I watch them. Look out for a review of Mutant shortly.

I have to say it's not just packaging, it needs a synopsis that peaks my interest as well, but the majority of my buys are blind buys.

Yes, that would've piqued my interest too!!
