:hmmmm:

Perhaps a separate thread for western hemisphere TV shows would allow those of us on the left side of the pond to participate more fully.

And those below the channel. ;)

Nah! This thread swings back and forth and makes it fun. Us Europeans have a go at stumping you lot and vice versa. We end up recommending various shows to each other in the meantime. Spaced is proving popular for instance...

Sorry, it will be difficult (impossible, actually) for me to participate when the east side of the Atlantic posts their shows. I have watched few European shows since Monty Python, Fawly Towers, the Avengers and the Prisoner. The DirecTV BBC seems to run very few shows I can watch more than one episode without withdrawing to something to which I can understand the language. Rhyming slang is totally confusing to me. Two nations separated by a common language.

Okay, so I start a little side game for my German fellows, but I post only the links instead of including the pictures to avoid confusion with the main game - meaning the board is yours, ninehours.

Thanks for the pics, goodguy.I definitely don't know it. Either because it came out after I left Germany or because it's just not something I'd watch :bag:

Well, I guess it is time to reveal the answer...

Die zweite Heimat (DE 1992 by Edgar Reitz, AKA Heimat 2 AKA The Second Homeland)

In 13 episodes, each about two hours long, the series chronicles the life of a group of young people in Germany from 1960 to 1970, who start out as students (mostly music and film) in Munich. The main character is Hermann, an avantgarde musician and composer, but each episode also puts the focus on another character from the group. The series is actually part (IMHO by far the strongest) of a trilogy by Reitz, but can be viewed on its own.

For those interested, I again recommend a dvdtimes review. In-depth information on the entire Heimat trilogy and other works by Edgar Reitz can be found on www.heimat123.de. Unfortunately, the latter site is for the most part in German, although limited content is also available in English.

DVD sets are available in DE (Kinowelt), UK (Tartan), and US (Facets).

This is why I love this forum, I'm always learning about DVDs I never heard of before. :thanks:

And the wish list continues to grow...

Hint? Really??   :o

It was a US show and the shot is pretty iconic - so IF you have ever seen the show, you should remember it.

But maybe you haven't, because, despite raving reviews, the network pulled the plug after only 4 episodes, and it took almost 10 years until US viewers were finally able to see all 8 produced episodes - on DVD.

Is that Adrian Pasdar from Near Dark and Heroes? If so, I'm able to confidently say, that I have no idea...

Yep. Although, for me, he will always be Adrian Pasdar from the-show-that-has-yet-to-be-guessed.

I honestly thought that this would be almost too easy, especially with the first shot.

An 8-episode-show may got lost in the TV guide. ;)

Never heard of that show even after I looked it up.
