They aired the 50th Anniversary Special in (3D) theatres all over Germany and they were sold out everywhere. I don't think they were expecting this given the fact that Doctor Who is not exactly a big name on German TV.


I watched it yesterday evening after I came home from the hospital. It was great.

Christopher Eccleston couldn't be convinced to make a proper appearance. A full regeneration from Hurt to Eccleston would have completed the circle.

Is it just me or does David Tennant sound like Chris Barrie? Most times he reminds me of Mr Brittas. Sometimes he reminds me of Ace Rimmer.

DJ it would have been nice.  Even better to have him in some of the 'talks'.  I think I read somewhere that leaving Doctor Who was really his idea.  Though other places seems to have been.  Who knows <G>

I believe it was shown in some movie theaters here in 3D on Saturday too.  It was in more theaters tonight.  A friend actually got tickets for us to go, but I had to work.  It would have been in Columbus..about an hour and a half away.  If I hadn't had to work, I would have gone I think.  It would have been so cool to see Doctor Who on the big screen.  And I think a few things would have been cool in 3D.  I have an Epinions friend that was going with his son..I'll have to ask him about it.

I watched it Saturday after I got home - it is still on my DVR..and it is staying there.  It was awesome.

When Hurt started to regenerate, I thought oh...Eccleston will be back briefly..then nope.  I actually said out loud when it didn't show him That sucks.   

Ohhh...did you see the prequel webepisode that came out like a week ago?  The Night of the Doctor I think it was called.  It isn't very long, but it ties into what was going on in the 50th.

I have recently watched the finale of the fourth series, which was a crossover with Torchwood and I am guessing the Sarah Jane Adventures. I was aware that Sarah Jane Adventures was more or less targeted at kids, but I didn't think it was as cheesy and as kiddy as the scenes in Doctor Who would suggest. Is the impression that these scenes left me with a good indication of how the series is? Or can the series be enjoyed by adults? The five seasons are fairly cheap to get, but if it is a chore to get through, I'd rather think twice about getting it.

If it helps .. i enjoy them and have them.  It is as you say for kids but i think the cross-over ep you mention was a little odd.  Her sidekicks are 'youse' as they say in new york but it is well done.

Basically you get a kid's versions of the Doctor Who monsters, for example the Slitheen (the fart monsters from London) return, this time it's a child.

It's the first episode after the pilot which (like most pilots) doesn't completely reflect the show.

Most episodes are two-parters, so they don't overburden their young viewers. Imagine the 60's Batman show which would always break when Batman and Robin are tied to some horrible death trap.

I've thought of getting Sarah Jane Chronicles.  I have Torchwood and I liked it..  I really like Sarah Jane and I loved how she came back and got to see the Doctor again.

I guess you mean Sarah Jane Adventures.  I bang that with Sarah Connor Chronicles some times.  For me the brain thinks too many segways while typing

The Adventures are just good clean fun.  Like Robert Heinlein work always considered 'Young Adult' writing (probably because most of the critics couldn't understand him ), the Adventures are .. well .. for the young ones in all of us.

I am currently watching the fifth series of the new Doctor Who, the first series with the eleventh doctor. I was sceptical before going in, but luckily I am loving it so far. But whereas I had problems with the tenth doctor because the voice constantly makes me think of Arnold Rimmer and Mr Brittas, I have a similar problem with the character of Amy Pods, though here it is not quite as disturbing. Her looks reminds me of Pam Beesly from The Office and she sounds like Jennifer Aniston.
