Poker Chips Spreader
« on: October 29, 2012, 12:00:18 PM »
My buddies and I are playing Texas Hold'em cash games every once in a while.

Buy-in is €5 for which you get 5,000 in chips.

Since it is a varying degree of players every evening (from 4 up to 8 so far) I wrote a little app that would determine what kind of chips the start stack for everyone would consists of.

We agreed that the stack shouldn't contain more that 20 chips of one value (so you wouldn't get too many low-value chips).

I used to have a classic PDA (with Windows Mobile) on which it ran. Now it's unfortunately broken. :(

Thus, I adapted the app so it would run on a normal Windows as well.

If you're having a Poker night, feel free to use it to build equal stacks for everyone: http://doena-soft.de/Software/PokerChipsForWindows.zip

Never played Poker for cash so far (although a €5 buy-in hardly qualifies). I do occasionally play on PokerTH, which uses ranking to deter from the unavoidable idiot betting in non-cash games.

We simply added the €5 buy-in because without it, people simply play recklessly every hand - because what do they have to lose. There's no real poker feeling coming up.

If you're ever near Karlsruhe, swing by. ;)

I've never been much of poker player to begin with, but I like this idea.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!
