Never Done This Before...
« on: November 21, 2011, 06:26:09 AM »
OK... this was a little weird. I must have been more tired then I thought. I was trying to watch a show on TV this evening. Felt myself getting tired but really wanted to finish the show before rolling over.... the next thing I knew I was still watching the show. Eyes open. understanding what was on TV.... but at the same time heard myself starting to snore!?!    That is where I realized it was time to turn off the TV.  :P And found out that apparently I snore!

Anyone ever done that one before?

 :hysterical:

Well, I never heard myself snore. I have been told that I do, though :bag:

I remember that one one single occasion I actually "consciously" noticed the moment of falling asleep, of changing from conscious thoughts to the dreamworld. I have never had that again, but I remember it quite an interesting experience.

Usually I will start nodding off a little and quickly realize that I better go to bed. I think I only actually fell asleep in front of the TV once.

Oh I have fell asleep in front of the TV many times! But that is probably because I have a TV in my bedroom... where I do the most of my TV watching. :P

I wasn't paying attention to what section this was in and I thought you were going to introduce yourself

I've known for a decade at least that I snore, but it's not very often. If I've snored, I wake up with a dry and/or sore throat. And yes, I have woken myself up snoring. Sometimes I can hear myself snore for what feels like a full minute before I say in sleep-state, "What is that?" which instantly wakes me up to find out what it is.
I have a collection.
It can be found here.
No need to check it often.
I update it only twice a year!

Never go to bed mad. Sleep on the couch instead.

I don't remember that happening to me..though I fall asleep to the tv all the time.  I can't sleep without the tv.  If it goes off - cable or electric goes out or the DVD stops and there is no music on the main screen - I wake up.
There have been times when I've been watching something from my DVR and I start to fall asleep while fast forwarding through the commercials.

I suffer from Sleep Apnea and have had several Sleep Studies done with EEG's and Recording Equipment watching me.  They always start you without the CPAP/BIPAP Breathing Mask as a like Control to see how bad you are.  I am classified as the WORST MOST SEVERE APNEA.  I watched and listened to the recording of me in HORROR.  I sounded like an out of control Stihl Chainsaw.  I was literally rattling the windows after about 5 minutes of sleep.  It was very scary.  I have lost 120 pounds after having LapBand Surgery but still sleep with my CPAP Mask and will for the foreseeable future.  But I don't snore with it.  Something I'm sure my family and girlfriend greatly appreciate.  I used to have to sleep with my TV on to simply drown out the sound of my snoring I believe.  But no more.  I sleep in a dark, quiet room and rest well.  Best of luck!

I too have sleep apnea.  And if you've lost 120 lbs., you should probably have a new sleep study done as the weight loss will improve the apnea.  You'll still need a CPAP most likely, but it may be able to be cranked down a bit.  That's assuming you're done with your weight loss of course.

Thanks Mark.  Yes I have an appointment with my Respiratory Specialist next week.  We're going to discuss it.  I have always had my CPAP on Max Flow but perhaps it's time to tone it down.  I do use the "RAMP UP" option at night so it's not bad at the start but by morning it's going strong.

Good advice though :)  THANKS!

Max? Wow! :o

Mine is set to '8' I believe.  Whatever '8' means.  Seams like it's a scale up to 30, but I wouldn't swear to that.  Regardless, it's light enough that I never fool with the ramp option.
