Larry Crowne (2011)
« on: March 16, 2011, 08:43:57 PM »
Official Synopsis:
Quote
Oscar® winners Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts reunite for a dramatic comedy about how the hard knocks from today’s recession inspire one everyday guy to undergo a personal reinvention: Larry Crowne.

Until he was downsized, affable, amiable Larry Crowne (Hanks) was a superstar team leader at the big-box company where he’s worked since his time in the Navy. Underwater on his mortgage and unclear on what to do with his suddenly free days, Larry heads to his local college to start over. There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves…often moving around town in a herd of scooters. In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts), who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

The simple guy who has every reason to think his life has stalled will come to learn an unexpected lesson: when you think everything worth having has passed you by, you just might discover your reason to live.

Hits cinemas July 1st 2011. Despite the names involved this is the first I've heard of this.

I had read that Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were doing another movie together (remember they co-starrred in Charlie Wilson's War) but I really didn't know anything about it.  I haven't been to a movie in 3 years and am thinking of trying to get out to see several movies this year and this is definitely one I'm considering as I like both leads.  After all, there has to be more to the movies than super-heroes and 3D.  :tease:

I am supposed to be going to see this on Tuesday but IKEA currently have that day allocated for their delivery of my new Billy bookcases. Hopefully they will confirm soon with an early time or a different day.

ETA: IKEA delivery service have been in contact and the earliest they can deliver is the following Tuesday so I will be seeing this next Tuesday.

Ok I did see this earlier this afternoon.

Ho-hum is the best I can really say. It's a Tom Hanks complete movie experience - he wrote, directed, produced and starred in it. Maybe he spread himself too thinly.

No more than a 2
