My case for Dark Night of the Scarecrow was in perfect condition.

So it isn't the fault of VCI... Where do you buy it Jon? a real webstore or ebay?

No, I think both of you are missing what I mean. The majority of Region 1 titles I have ever bought have this effect. It isn't a problem, it isn't a fault, heck it's barely noticeable. But I have never seen it on a region 2.

Look at this scan. I've purposefully messed around with brightness, contrast and colour saturation to highlight the effect. Look how it kind of spreads from the spine...

I see that type of thing every great once in a while... but very rare. I have no idea what causes it.

I got 2 season sets (in standard keep cases) today.... 1 had no security tape at all... and the other only had the tape across the top... hopefully all sides being taped is becoming more rare.

I get that wrinkled problem with some too.  I think it has mostly been older DVDs.
I've also had the issue from Karsten's picture too..on brand new releases.  My Dollhouse season 1 has that on it.

Well, this is brand new. But you do see what I mean now? It's no big deal, but I do wonder why it happens. And it does happen a great deal for me, though obviously I buy very few R1. Pete, does your Scarecrow have it after all?

The weird thing is, I swear I have never seen this on a region 2. Region 3 again tend to use a different quality type keep case and it doesn't happen with those either, but there a weird square cut, rough edged affair.

Maybe the package, beiung shipped form the US, is kept in the sun for too long, somewhere?

I have it occasiojnally, but not worryingly often. I'd agree if one were to say it's morfe often now than 5 years ago.

Stickers are highly annoying.

I've never had the wrinkling problem. As far as stickers, I've learned a way to save the covers from accidentally being torn. Cut the stickers down the center with a razor. Then, slide the cover out gently from the bottom before trying to remove the stickers. Then, once the cover is out I can pull the security tapes off easily. I use goo gone to remove any residual glue. I only wish I figured this out a long time ago!
