I guess I've been a bit...overwhelmed with how long the show has been on and not knowing where to start.

You could start with the current season (Series 5 in the new calendar). It starts with a new doctor (#11), a new companion, a new TARDIS and a new showrunner.

Or you could start with the new incarnation of the show (Series 1 in the new calendar). It starts with a new doctor (#9), a new companion, a new TARDIS and a new showrunner.

Aside from the WTF?! moments both seasons don't need much knowledge to what happened before because it will be explained once that knowledge is necessary.

That's #9:

Not a huge Dr. Who fan, but I thought Primeval was good fun. So when series 4 is released on DVD, I'm there. (Like I don't have enough unwatched or partly watched TV shows...  :-[ )

I own series 1/2/5 (picked up 5 as a 'fulfillment from Amazon' order for 99p so couldn't resist). Enjoyed S1 and about to start on S2.

What I want to know is... Anybody know how the series 1-3 box set is packaged? I'm going to buy S3 afterwards and it is £10.47 on Amazon whilst the boxset is £12.97. If S3 is packaged as the normal individual release, just with the other series in some form of slipcase I would rather buy 1-3 and give S1-2 away to someone.

I can check it out tomorrow. But maybe looking at the cover in my collection will be enough f a hint...?

So far I must say season 4 was the weakest, but overall I am still enjoying the cheese-fest :D

Looking at the rear cover, looks like someone will get the first couple of series from me for nothing. Would be great if you could double check though Achim. Thanks!

I compared it Amaon's listing and S3 seems indeed identical compared from the set (each series is in separate keep case) and the stand alone item.

Looks like S3 is NEVER going to drop to a nice low price like all the other seasons have. It's £8.97 right now so perhaps time to pull the trigger finally.

Just watched the first four episodes of S3 andenjoyed them just as much as the first couple of series so far, perhaps even more thanks to the fact they seem to have killed off the one character I dislike (I never say never to characters coming back somehow). The character I'm talking about is

Yeah, that came as a bit of a shocker, or in your case surprise. I never minded him that much, arrogant at times, but I was able to look over that with the overall scheme of things going on in the show

Just starting the final six episodes - Series 5. I'll be sad there is no more of 'UK' Primeval left. :(
