Topic: Medical TV Shows and cell phones.

Thanks Jon - I had never heard of it but then...it's from the UK! It looks quite interesting, I'm going to have to pick up the first season. I'm not saying I don't like medical shows - I do - even ER and Gray's Anatomy. But accurate...haven't seen one yet.

HAHA, well... I just felt that Casulty went a bit down hill after the Holby City thing :p ... don't forget Holby Blue :S which was an even weirder spin off about policemen

..I loved the Royal! and Heartbeat ... im going to miss them, now ITV have got rid of them.

I felt Casualty was always at its prime around the same time London's Burning was on those were the days... (for service television in the UK)

...When I think of Casualty I always think of the show 999... Im not entirely sure why  


Kathy, I just read up on Casualty (Wikipedia) It seems only seasons 1-3 have been released and there are no plans for the other 21 series to be released (Kind of a good thin I guess!  )

Royal and Hearbeat aren't listed in DVDP - I'll have to look around for them. Casualty is region 2 so I'll have to find the posting on how to adjust my DVD player.

Well, they are such long-running shows. Tough to release I suppose. Maybe you can find a couple of episodes online.

Certainly there is a DVD release of the period version: Casualty 1900s it's called. Trailer below...

My step dad got a pacemaker over the summer.  His doctor had a cell phone in the hospital and got calls on it.  We were able to use our phones too.  The doctor - the cardiologist - said that using a cellphone wouldn't interfere with the pacemaker.

Magnets are what can cause problems - when we place a magnet on the patient's chest (its about 2 inch x 2 inch x 1/2 inch) it will turn the pacemaker off.

I don't know if cell phones have magnets and, if so, if the old ones were stronger and so affected the pacemaker.

So if someone was to say... try and assassinate someone with a pacemaker. All they would need is magnets?

If you get close enough and if you can hide an electromagnet under your jacket, then proably yes. For a natural magnet to work it has to be bigger and closer to the chest to work.
