I'm sorry you're having this problem with your eyes again.  I hope it gets better soon.

I didn't realize you had diabetes - that might explain it. Aren't there programs out there that would allow you to use the computer without looking at the screen - designed for those who are blind? An elderly friend of mine loved to read but was visually impaired. The Blind Association has an entire program - all free of charge - that sent her books on tape. I would go through the list of hundreds of books - check which ones she wanted - and they would send them in the mail. I believe her doctor had to fill out a form stating her eyes should not read but the Blind Association took care of everything. I would check them out to see if they have any programs or recommendations for you.

Funnily enough I was watching the World News tonight and they had a story on about just that! Apparently there's this new technology for the blind to use computers. It combines a binary type keyboard and a screen-reader where a strange little voice reads everything on the screen to you.

A friend of mine with Diabetes has had a few problems with her eyes, a few months ago her vision became completely blurred, it stopped after a while.

they have a books on tape service here too, as for blind people and computers,

you can get screen magnifiers, and special programs which help you use your computer, voice recognition systems, I believe there is a program called Jaws which reads things out to you.

I'm not sure I'm quite ready to go that route yet but it's a possibility.  I know there's a woman on a few e-mail lists I'm on that is blind so she could probably advise me more if I do decide to go that route.  Luckily, I learned to type back in high school so I can type without looking at the keyboard...
