Series Finales:
The Good... The Bad... & The Ugly
My plan for this thread is that it will be an ongoing thread that I hit with an episode or two every now and then.... where I watch and review the final episode of a series. I will not only think about whether or not I enjoyed the episode... but whether or not the studio knew about the cancellation in time to give the series a proper ending. Was it, in my opinion of course, any good. If not how did they muck it up so badly?

As I said... this is a thread I will add to every now and then when the mood hits. But I will also add to it whenever I complete a TV Series whether I just happen to watch one while watching the set... or if it is already part of a TV Show marathon that I am doing.... where I can copy the review from the other thread and just add a little to it if need be.

I have enough complete TV Series that I can Keep this thread going for quite some time. As of today (Feb. 15th, 2012) I currently have 176 Completed Series with one more that can be here any day now. So yes, I think this can be an on-going thread. I will list the completed series below. If there is one you are curios about... or want to recommend please feel free to do so. What's the difference between the bad and the ugly in this marathon?  Wouldn't both be valid for a truly awful finale...like that of Seinfeld?

I'd consider a bad finale a finale I didn't really like (e.g. LOST). An ugly finale would be an unresolved cliffhanger.

Series ending with unresolved cliffhanger/storylines. Wasn't sure how else to put it... anyone with any better suggestions?

Series Finales: The Good... The Bad... & The Ugly

Series: Medium
Allison Dubois works in the Phoenix District Attorney's office. She uses her psychic abilities to help crack criminal cases. Her dreams often give her clues to the whereabouts of missing people, and by touching someone she often gets to see beneath the facade into the person's soul. Allison juggles this stressful job with her role as wife and mother of three children

Finale Title: Me Without You    Original Air Date: January 21, 2011
In the series finale, the fate of Allison's family is shown years in the future as they cope with the consequences of their choices and psychic visions.

Series Closure: Yes

My Thoughts:
Medium has been a favorite series of mine since the pilot episode originally aired. And it remained a favorite till the series finale 7 years later. I think the finale was very well done. I enjoyed every minute of it. I am thrilled that the series has proper ending... no unanswered questions. I think the case that was being worked on could have been better... but it was meant more to be a vehicle on getting the character of Allison closure more then anything else.

Series Finales: The Good... The Bad... & The Ugly

Series: Sliders
Quinn Mallory, while working on an anti-gravity machine, accidentally creates a portal to a parallel universe. Eventually, his friends and an unwilling participant accidentally get stuck traveling among parallel worlds, trying to survive, and learning that sliding can lead to fatal results. Meanwhile, among many changes in their group, they try to rescue the multiverse from the Kromagg Dynasty.

Sliders is an American science fiction television series. It was broadcast for five seasons, beginning in 1995 and ending in 2000. The show was created by Robert K. Weiss and Tracy Tormé. Tormé, Weiss, Leslie Belzberg, John Landis, David Peckinpah, Bill Dial and Alan Barnette served as executive producers at different times of the production. For its first two seasons it was produced in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was filmed primarily in Los Angeles, California, USA in the last three seasons.

The first three seasons of Sliders were aired by the Fox network. After being canceled by Fox, the series moved to Sci Fi Channel for its final two seasons. The last new episode first aired on December 29, 1999 in the United Kingdom, and was broadcast on Sci Fi Channel on February 4, 2000.

Finale Title: The Seer    Original Air Date: February 4, 2000
On a world with a television program based on the sliders' adventures, a psychic predicts their fate: they die in their next slide.

Series Closure: No

My Thoughts:
Well this is a bit of a surprise for me... because I loved this episode! I haven't enjoyed an episode this much sense about maybe sometime in the 3rd season. I really enjoyed the storyline a lot. I liked all the characters. I also liked that this episode is about the Kromaggs without there being any Kromaggs in the episode. The only bad thing about this episode... it is terrible for a series finale. Would have made an excellent season finale... but to end the entire series like this. With so many unanswered questions... it is just wrong!

Series Finales: The Good... The Bad... & The Ugly

Series: Ghost Whisperer
The series follows the life of Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. While trying to live as normal a life as possible—she is married and owns an antique store—Melinda helps earthbound spirits resolve their problems and cross over into the light, or the spirit world. Her tasks are difficult and at times she struggles with people who push her away and disbelieve her ability. In addition, the ghosts are mysterious and sometimes menacing in the beginning and Melinda must use the clues available to her to understand the spirits' needs and help them.[3] The show was created by John Gray and was produced by Sander/Moses Productions, executive producer, and Jennifer Love Hewitt in association with ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios.[4] On May 18, 2010, CBS canceled the show after five seasons.

Finale Title: THE CHILDREN'S PARADE    Original Air Date: May 21, 2010
As Melinda attempts to free the hospital from a poltergeist, she faces a final conflict with the dark forces that has targeted her and her son.

Series Closure: No (Well, Not Really.)

My Thoughts:
This episode is an excellent season finale. I enjoyed every minute of it. The storyline kept me interested from the beginning till the end. I really liked the ghost kids in the hospital. While this did make a great season finale... not so much for a series finale. Well not that it is a bad one. More like it just didn't feel like a goodbye to the series. They probably didn't find out in time this was the final season. George Wendt of Cheers fame guest stars in this episode as a pretty comedic ghost plumber.
